During the economic recession, in the early '90s, seven families decide to leave London to resettle in the Highlands of Scotland. Working together, they aim to create a self-sufficient community that will provide a good environment to raise their kids.
Two of the boys, David and Sayyid, form a close friendship, but a murder that is revenged by a single act of extreme violence separates them. Sayyid is imprisoned and radicalized by a group of Islamic extremists. Once released, he heads for the tribal areas of Pakistan. Meanwhile, David enlists in the army and is commissioned into the Paras.
Their paths cross again in the inhospitable Helmand Province in Afghanistan, and the two young men seem to be inextricably joined by fate in a complex dance of death that takes them to Iraq and Syria and back to London.
The Houses of Parliament are the target, and democracy the casualty. London will never be the same again unless this ultimate terrorist plot is foiled. Could the United Kingdom's democracy survive without politicians? Could a sustainable community in the Highlands of Scotland become the road map for a new Great Britain? Could a thrilling episode involving special forces against a contemporary enemy be laced with a love story to melt the heart and excite the senses?

A dramatic scenario leading to positive reform
The story is well told of a world where politicians are not welcome. The violent path to get there is plausible, but hopefully not what it takes achieve this type of change.
