Spice was there; story was lacking

I really wanted to love Issued by Paris Wynters—military romance is one of my favorite subgenres—but this one fell short in too many key areas to fully recommend.

The biggest issue? Everything felt like it was almost there.

The inner monologues dragged the pacing down. Both leads were so deep in their heads that I often found myself zoning out, wishing for more interaction, more tension, more movement. The six-month relationship reveal also felt wildly disconnected from the actual timeline we witnessed—it read more like three weeks, tops.

On the plus side, the spicy scenes were really well-written—believable chemistry, strong tension, and emotionally grounded. I also appreciated the woven-in details of Mongolian culture, which added a refreshing and unique layer to the story. I just wish we got to experience more of it through active moments rather than being told through internal reflection.

In the end, it wasn’t horrible - I did finish it… but it wasn’t one I’d recommend either. There are other military romances out there that land the emotional beats and the action more cleanly.

Loved this military romance

Honestly, It was a nice, easy listen. A wonderful palette cleanser, as I like to call them. Usually stories about anything to do with the military are really hard for me to get into as a Veteran's wife, but this didn't have too much war action in it. I enjoyed the idea of the Marriage program, and almost a very calm version of enemies to lovers between the two main characters. It was just what I needed before I started another series!

Very well written and so sweet! Hot when it needed to be and of course there is room for a few tears!! Really enjoyed this book!

Good concept good story

This was a new take on arranged marriages. I liked it. Sometimes a little slow but overall I liked it. Could have used more of alternating in the duet. But it doesn’t mess with the flow. Hope you enjoy it

Narration was really bad. Both sound like squeaky mouses. I had to adjust the speed several times to make them sound nirmal.

This story was original. This book helps military wife’s or people who choose to go forward in that choice or with someone who makes that choice.

Great story

I love that this was written, so it encompassed, so much storyline with so little nonsensical filler. It was relatable, seriously relatable. If I wasn’t already married to a military man maybe I could be issued to one.

It was a fun romance. Great to distract my mind from the responsibilities of my day.
