She should have thought twice before bringing that stray dog home....

All Maise wanted was to help raise money for the animal shelter. Instead, her alien date at the charity auction disintegrates, and she ends up taking home a mysterious Great Dane with a suspicious scent of men's cologne.

When the dog transforms into a very naked, very blue alien on her living room couch, Maise discovers she's harboring a fugitive shapeshifter wanted for murder.

He claims he's innocent.
She wants to believe him.

But then he kidnaps her onto a spaceship before she can decide whether to trust him or call the police.

Now she's trapped on a spaceship fleeing across the galaxy. Iroth is wanted, a liar, and dangerous. But the more time they spend together, the more Maise sees the man behind the monster...and the more her heart refuses to listen to reason.

A scorching hot sci-fi romance with alien shapeshifters, space kidnappings, and a beauty who sees beyond the beast. For those who love fated mates, love born from captivity, burning chemistry, and a happily ever after that's worth the journey.

Book really didn’t explain how the incident occurred at the beginning of book. Also, the vulnerability of Iroth made him and the others unimpressive. Despite this, I enjoyed the interactions between Mays and Iroth. The story was short and sweet. Stephen did a good job, I love his voice for characters and his laid back demeanor.

So it wasn't a complete let down, but it definitely wasn't that good either. This book was basically that filler episode in a series that you can skip over since nothing really happens. There are a few good moments of drama, but the lack of real relationship building and romance sticks out overall. I also think there were huge opportunities missed of Iroth using his unique abilities and having real self growth -not just the "I love her therefore" type changes of heart.

Tamsin Ley left the door open for more books, but I think this is supposed to be the last in the series. If so, then book 2 is the trio's winner.
