Resumen del Editor

Eddie Sutherland is dead. Normally, Detective Wes O'Brien wouldn't care about another dead drug dealer, but he may just be the man who killed him. Thrown off the force and under investigation, Wes is called upon privately to look into a cheating spouse case. The one thing he wanted to avoid. Only this case turns into a double homicide with Wes the only witness. Diving deeper into the murder, Wes soon finds himself teamed with a mentally unstable bounty hunter, embroiled in crooked politics, and working against the clock to solve the murders before he becomes the killer's next victim.

Very Good!!!

I received this book for free, but I would have easily paid a credit for it. It started a little slow but sped up quickly. It kept me guessing until the very end. I was pleasantly surprised at the ending which I didn't see coming. It was well written and the characters were very strong. I hope there is more from Irish Black in the future.

A gritty, savage pageturner

If you're not reading/listening to D.A. Schneider, you need to change that immediately. Irish Black was a gritty and savage page-turner. It’s a violent, hard-case crime novel. This book is also part buddy cop with plenty of laughs and part political thriller, although it is not heavy-laden with political jargon. You feel the grime of the city, the atmosphere of the dive bars, the hurt of the broken characters within the story (and there is plenty of hurt individuals both mentally and whoever is on the other end of O’Brien’s fists). Detective Wes O’Brien (nicknamed Irish Black) and his sidekick partner, Jackson Posey, go up against plenty of ruthless dirty cops, assassins, the mafia, and low-life street thugs, all of who are gunning for them. You can’t keep a good cop down; O’Brien and Posey rise to the occasion in this action-packed novel. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. Get this book. Schneider writes a damn good and intense story. Five hollow-point bullets from me on this one.

Great story but a horrible narration.

Great story, but I hope that wasn't an attempt at an Irish accent. Really tough to listen to.

I Think This Could Have Been Good

I am about halfway through this book right now, and every time I start listening, I decide to just stop altogether. I have always talked myself out of doing so, but frankly, I'm just not enjoying it. I think this could have been a decent story, and maybe it will end up being one, but the dialog is both poorly written and badly performed, I'm sorry to say. I don't like to critique things this way, but this book is just not enjoyable. It took me awhile to get past a Black detective in Indiana speaking in a pronounced Canadian accent, but I did. What I can't seem to move past is the dialog. It just strikes me as amateurishly written. Granted, this just my opinion and one that everybody doesn't share, but I feel compelled to point out that this, for me, just doesn't rise to the overall rating it has. Again, sorry to be so negative.
