Secrets Old and New

Old flames with secrets, a new flame with secrets—and the FMC herself carrying plenty of secrets too. The story slowly unravels layers of love, betrayal, and found family as the past and present collide.

It was an engaging listen, though at times it felt like parts of the story were missing, and the ending landed a little flatter than expected. I’m hoping book two fills in some of those gaps and builds on what started here.

Liz Marcum has a new fan! those twists caught me totally off guard!

I absolutely loved this book! Liz Marcum has created something incredibly captivating that I simply couldn't stop listening to. The story was so well-done and I fell in love with their journey from start to finish.
What really impressed me was the unpredictability. I usually pride myself on being able to sniff out a plot twist early on, but I genuinely did not see these turns coming! It’s such a rare and satisfying feeling to be truly shocked by a story. I’m officially hooked on the Descent Into Darkness trilogy and I need Book 2 as soon as possible. Highly recommend!

Not a duet-style narration

Romance

Great romance book. Very enjoyable, and it does have its spicy moments. Definitely recommend this book and easy 5 star.

Romance-forward and twisty-turny

This was my first romantic suspense and I enjoyed it! As a mostly romantasy reader, it was a surprisingly smooth transition - she even says “gods” rather than “god,” and there are lots of nicknames 😅 I wouldn’t have minded a darker ending, but that’s just personal preference. The narrator was great! My one writing critique is that we sometimes slipped into past tense in a way I don’t believe was intentional. My one audio critique is that I wished the section breaks had longer pauses. Sometimes I didn’t hear a pause at all and it took me a moment to realize we were into a new scene. Still, this was a fun and fast read!
