Resumen del Editor

This is the little book that started a revolution, making women's voices heard, in their own right and with their own integrity, for virtually the first time in social scientific theorizing about women. Its impact was immediate and continues to this day, in the academic world and beyond. Translated into 16 languages, with more than 700,000 copies sold around the world, In a Different Voice has inspired new research, new educational initiatives, and political debate - and helped many women and men to see themselves and each other in a different light.

The narrator's voice is incendiary

I appreciate where Dr. Gilligan is coming from, particularly when this work is contextualized according to chronosystemic influences. This said, there are many ways that Dr. Gilligan's work contributes to the marginalization of underrepresented gender identities. Furthermore, the limited discourse on the intersection. of gender and other social constructs must be addressed in future writings for this work to remain relevant. PS thank all of the forgotten gods that someone challenged the almighty Titans like Kohlberg & Piaget & Freud & Erikson.

Philosphy

Took a philosophy 101 course at my CC, heard about Carol Gilligan and care ethics. Thoroughly enjoyed and changed my perspective, thank you for your work!

narrator hard to take

The narrator puts an odd emphasis on words, almost hostile or angry. It is annoying and distracting to the content. It's an enlightening look at women and girls in comparison to men and boys. Helpful in a journey out of codependency.

In a Different Voice by Carol Gilligan

I enjoyed the content of the book and the study. I found it to be thorough and thought provoking. I didn’t like the narrator’s choice in portraying the female subjects of the study. All of the “women’s voices” sounded feeble, unsure, and affected with vocal fry. This sways the listener’s interpretation of the women interviewees.

Important work, unfortunate narration

Unfortunately, for me, it seems the narrator has decided to take this information using inflection and emphasis to put meaning from her own perspective which is not intended. It is just distracting. This style of narration is better suited for novels, not research.
