For Sam Lovell, organising the summer festival in her hometown is one of the highlights of her year. It’s not always smooth sailing, but she loves to see Porthmellow’s harbour packed with happy visitors and being on the committee has provided a much-needed distraction from the drama in her family life (and the distinct lack of it in her love life). A pleasant Holiday Listen
I enjoyed this fantasy about a shop girl taking a December vacation to a small town filled with Christmas and Snow day fun. The readers were good. And I surprised myself wishing to be there experiencing this magical time. What I didn’t enjoy was the main character whining over and over again about a disconnected boyfriend who makes promises that he never keeps. She should have “moved on” a lot sooner.
