In 2012, Derrick Rose was on top of the world.

After growing up in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood, Rose achieved an improbable childhood dream: being selected first overall in the NBA draft by his hometown Chicago Bulls.

The point guard, known to his family as "Pooh", was a phenom, winning the Rookie of the Year award and electrifying fans around the world. In 2011, he became the youngest MVP in league history. He and the Bulls believed the city's first berth in the NBA Finals since the Jordan era was on the horizon. Rarely had a bond between a player and fans been so strong, as the city wrapped its arms around the homegrown hero.

Six years and four knee surgeries later, he was waived by the Utah Jazz, a once surefire Hall of Fame career seemingly on the brink of collapse. Many speculated his days in the NBA were over.

But Derrick Rose never doubted himself, never believed his struggles on and off the court were anything other than temporary setbacks. Rather than telling the world he had more to give, he decided to show them.

loved it great story learned alot more from a guy i look up to and respect

An open DRose

The book was a little too “ranty” but overall I was happy to see DRose open up like he did. Huge fan of his, keep grinding.

Passion and realism

Being from Chicago and absolutely being in aww with Derrick Rose at his high of highs in the league , this really brought me back to that time and seeing the reflection of all of it thru his eyes was a pleasant experience. Loved the book , you real one drose

Understanding DRose

When I started this audible, I thought I was just gonna be about Derrick Rose’s highlights, completely wrong, I got to journey into the mind of Derrick Rose, understanding where he came from, how hard he worked and to be an inspiration. Makes me appreciate him even more. When talking about the trades and the infamous injuries and the struggles he had to do to get where he’s at now. Just truly powerful. Definitely a role model. Thanks DRose for sharing your story with the world.

Great Story!!!

I truly loved the book! It's must read and listen! It was a story that was needed, because it's thing to prove your worth to everyone, but really prove your worth to yourself. D-Rose your story is very inspirational and I look for forward to you doing great things in the future.

Derrick did an amazing job with this project. 10/10 recommend especially to any Chicagoan. Read this!!

D-Rose should've hired an Editor of some sorts

I love D-Rose and respect EVERYTHING he has accomplished and gone through. However this book was not a must read/listen IMO. Very unorganized and way too many repeated details throughout the book.

Its just a game Derek and it took you 15 years to realize that. Stick to chess

Written in his voice

This story truly is written from D’s voice and perspective. I wonder if the narrator was whiney or if Derrick was actually whiney writing this book. I did appreciate learning more about some of his professional connections and relationships as it pertains to the NBA but wanted more from him. Overall, not terrible-but I just wanted a little bit more out of him.
