Resumen del Editor

A classic tale featuring two of the most-memorable characters in sword and sorcery, Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.

Over a span of 50 years, the late Fritz Leiber wrote dozens of adventures, set in the fictional city of Lankhmar, featuring the seven-foot-tall barbarian and the diminuitive thief. "Ill Met in Lankhmar" was honored with both the 1971 Hugo and Nebula Awards for Best Novella.

The disaster prone duo

Lieber is among the god fathers of modern sword and sorcery right up there with Howard. Both where indirectly connected through
Being part of the Lovecraft circle. This is the story of how mouser a swashbuckling fencer and thief meets the bardic barbarian fafhrd who forges lifelong bond in a night of revelry that soon turns to raging revenge.

Good classic fantasy

Is there anything you would change about this book?
No.

What did you like best about this story?
Classic fantasy story, but not your typical heroes.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator could have done a better job of making each character distinctive.

Could you see Ill Met in Lankhmar being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Jerome Flynn (Bronn from GoT) as the Gray Mouser and Liam Neeson as Fafhrd because he's tall?

Taking On The Thiefs Guild

Taking on the Thiefs Guild may not have been a great idea and when you are drunk well. I highly recommend this story.

Purple in a good way!

The story is short, but introduces us to a duo that gives me Ryiria vibes. Not the same exactly, but the feel is there. Anyway, as short stories tend to go, you get enough to interest you in learning more, and then we have some fun.

Mr. Leiber has a strong vocabulary that puts him closer to Neil Gaiman in purple words and descriptions. Yet, that’s not bad in my opinion. Overall, the story ends more abruptly than I expected, but it was solid.

The performance by Mr. Davis was also quite solid.

It’s certainly enough to make me interested in the duo for another story.

Missed a thrill

I remembered the Fafhrd & Gray Mouser stories from my teenage years and I loved them then, so I thought I'd try it as an audiobook now. But I guess the 35 years in between have changed a lot: not only have I changed, but also the way in which action and fantasy stories are built up nowadays. So with this story I didn't find a hoped-for fun and thrilling adventure, but a rather dull story, with two-dimensional characters having stilted conversations interspersed by Errol Flynn-like action scenes.

Oh well, I'm glad I tried it anyway. But I won't be back for any sequel parts.
