A New York Times bestseller!
From the author of The Sky Blues and Blaine for the Win comes a speculative young adult romance about a teen stuck in a time loop that’s endlessly monotonous until he meets the boy of his dreams.
For some reason, Clark has woken up and relived the same monotonous Monday 309 times. Until Day 310 turns out to be…different. Suddenly, his usual torturous math class is interrupted by an anomaly—a boy he’s never seen before in all his previous Mondays.
When shy, reserved Clark decides to throw caution to the wind and join effusive and effervescent Beau on a series of “errands” across the Windy City, he never imagines that anything will really change, because nothing has in such a long time. And he definitely doesn’t expect to fall this hard or this fast for someone in just one day.
There’s just one problem: how do you build a future with someone if you can never get to tomorrow?

The thing is that Clark and Beau have very different beliefs regarding the reasons why they’re stuck in time. Was either of them right? Hard to say and we’ll never know.
About Clark. He’s kind of an introvert. His parents just got divorced and his best friend suddenly moved from Chicago to Austin, Texas. He placed all of the blame for the divorce on his mother.
Beau is an extrovert. Spontaneity is what he lives for. His father died not that long ago (relevant to the story) and he had a dead beat mother. He ended up living with his grandparents and they weren’t kind to him.
I said they had different ideas about what would free them from living the day repeatedly and each pursued that path in the own way. Extrovert Beau ends up shying away from this things that gave his repeated day meaning whereas Clark did things he’d never thought possible and came out of his shell.
One theory, with evidence, was that no one stuck in the “loop” survived beyond one year and these two met 310 days in. Clark did everything possible to make sure they survived (not spoiling it) and then it came to the final few minutes of their existence. They did finally get together but was it too late? I have to say I don’t know the answer right up until the very end. Regardless of the outcome we got two people who struggled through life in their own way and found happiness.

This is only the second book I've read where the main character was stuck in a time loop and I found it very entertaining, if not a little stressful- will he ever get back to his daily life?!? I'm not sure how I'd handle reliving the same day over and over again, but I don't think I'd handle it as well as Clark did. 300+ days until there's a glitch in the matrix and he finally meets someone new- I'd probably would have gone off the rocker by day 30, if not sooner! And then for Beau to ghost him, after one spectacular day? Come on man! You're both stuck, help each other out!
The romance was sweet, if a little quick to happen in a very short time. I do wish we had gotten a little more at the end, but I'll just imagine how things worked out for them!
Kurt Kanazawa is a new to me narrator and I really enjoyed his performance! He sounded age appropriate, and that's a huge thing for me with YA audiobooks. I'll definitely be checking to see what else he's narrating, he's got a great voice.
Another fantastic story from Robbie Couch!
