Resumen del Editor

Sam Cleave, reporter for a small newspaper, has seen better days. After his partner was killed during an undercover investigation, he lost his passion for work and living.

But when a resident of a nearby assisted living home is tortured and murdered in a barbaric manner, he starts investigating. He is especially intrigued when a mysterious box is given to him that belonged to the dead man, but he needs help to interpret what it means.

He teams up with Nina Gould, an expert in World War II history. Soon the two of them realize that they are about to discover one of the best-guarded secrets of the war. It dawns on them that this would be the discovery of a lifetime, a discovery of immeasurable value, and a discovery that men would kill for. They join an expedition, sponsored by an eccentric billionaire, hunting for gold and breathtaking art buried deep below the Antarctic surface. Instead of gold and stolen art, they find something terrifyingly disturbing beneath the eternal ice.

A team of Nazi scientists has made an amazing discovery. But experiments have gone terribly wrong. The situation gets out of hand, and before long the expedition members find themselves peering into the deepest recesses of the human soul. Nina and Sam realize that their only hope for survival is to unlock the secrets of Ice Station Wolfenstein.

slow but then gets really good

The book turns out to be a really good listen. It took a bit for me to get involved, but once I did it was really great. I am looking forward to the second one.

Awesome Book

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I liked the characters. The narrator was very good and the twist towards the end was completely unexpected. I would recommend this book

Horrible narrator

The story was not bad, although it had a lbit of an anti-Semitic tone that was in bad form. The narrator, however, was awful. While he used some amusing, if inaccurate accents, his use of the long “a” in every case where the word “a” occurred was quite annoying. Worse, he mispronounce several words - some repeatedly. Does any one edit these things?

Okay Story

The story is not too bad, but the narrator is awful!! His female characters are not good at all.

Word a day calendar

The author does an amazing job of immersing you into the story. Performance rating very low due to the number of mispronunciations.

good story (although a little short), poorly read

I'm somewhat of a Preston Child fan, and enjoyed many of the same things that I enjoy about his other books in this story: good characters, good story, nods to interesting historical facts, etc. I'm also a fan of audiobooks, and all of my Preston Child reads have actually been audio.

The complaints I have about this story and the reading of it are things that I've never had to complain about with other Preston child books.

First and foremost was the narrator. Child trends to choose exceptional narrators for his books, but this one reminds me a bit of listening to a high school kid read. I could go for stretches without any problems, but everytime the words "a" or "an" came up, it was hesitant and extremely hard in the diction, and occasional pauses elsewhere that made this reading feel kind of odd.

My other concern was that the book field like it was a single book that has been divided into three to make a trilogy. The pacing seems good until I got to the end which was very abrupt. I'm hoping the child is not resort to this in the future, as his books are usually well developed and nicely paced.

Still, all in all, an okay read. Not enough to turn me off of future Child books; in fact now that I've started it I must finish the trilogy in spite of my issues with listening to that narrator.

So So

What did you like best about Ice Station Wolfenstein? What did you like least?

Actually, the name Wolfenstein intrigued me so much, I just had to listen to this book. Wolfenstein was a computer game way back when.
The story was rather good and itself intriguing.
What I didn't like about the book was the flashbacks (boring) and although they were related back to the story, the book didn't need them and would probably been better without them.

Would you recommend Ice Station Wolfenstein to your friends? Why or why not?

Depends, if they like kinda corny fast moving books? Yes. If they like deeper books with a more serious tone, then No.

Which scene was your favorite?

I really don't like this question because it is a spoiler question. But since you asked. The best part for me was when they all started getting sick.

Could you see Ice Station Wolfenstein being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, surprisingly. Much better than some of the tv series on now ie. Last Ship. I think it would make a great made for tv movie, not enough content for a series.

Any additional comments?

It interested me enough, that I will listen to the next in the series.

Great Adventure

When an old NAZI is murdered in a Scottish nursing home an investigative journalist and a young attractive academic begin searching for a long rumored NAZI base in Antarctica. A fresh twist on the old conspiracy theories. Very entertaining.

Hitler's hide a way????😐

Not sure this is up to the usual level. story was juvenile and fantastical and the characters needed something more. Going to read the next in the new series before judgement. The reader was fine , the proof reader needed help.

Good Story

This had promise, enjoyed the undercover part. Finding the box, and intrigue of what was written on it, better narration would add to the story.
