While Barber and Mattler do most of the heavy lifting, it is the full cast that steals this audiobook show. The title character mysteriously disappears, and, as could only happen in contemporary times, a podcast sets out to solve the crime. As the supporting cast voices the podcast that runs through the story, listeners are treated to full, immersive audio with voices, static, variable sound quality, news clips,and sound effects. OMG! Best book I’ve read all year (2021) Kept me interested from the first sentence! I listened all the way through, only stopping to sleep! Kudos Kit Frick!!! Amazing! And the narration was perfect!

Didn’t love it

I did not think this was a great book. I had trouble following the storyline. It seemed a little implausible. I did enjoy the narration, however.

Could not hold my interest

The performance was good. The story not so good. Was waiting for it to end,

Review on this are annoying. There wasn’t even racism or politics. There’s brief mentions of a character being black and targeted and that’s quite literally it. The plot twist came out of nowhere and I loved it. Would recommend for fans of a good girls guide to murder, it reminded me of that a lot! And the narrators voice was so lovely to listen too.

Interesting Story Well Done

I liked the story, and it was well presented with multiple voices and some surprising twists. It was sometimes a bit hard to figure out who was talking. This was complicated by the frequent switching back and forth from "then" and "now".

Surprise

Very clever plot. Different than anything I have read before. It was captivating from beginning to end and the characters came alive.

Great storytelling!

Enjoyed the performance. The use of multiple narrators is sometimes more distracting than anything else. Not so here. Escapist fiction. Even after seeing ahead to the end, the characters were worth sticking around for, to hear their version of events. Recommend for a long road trip.

Kept me puzzled

Very intriguing book! Kept me guessing right until the end! Narration was great as well.

I kept wanting to get the end!

I wanted to get to the end not because I wanted to book the end but because I had a pretty good idea about what was going on. I wasn't right on the nose but I was close. The book kept you wanting to keep reading. Was nicely done. The narrator's we're not bad but the recording at some points we're annoying. I will definitely speak out more of this author's books.

Almost a great book

The main story was so creative and unexpected, but then an extra narrative of white privilege and racial justice was introduced. It added nothing to the characters or the plot and seemed like it was inserted after the book was written to be more relevant in our current cultural climate. It just didn’t fit well.
