Nail your dialogue. Really. Now I know you've heard all the maxims: Film is a Visual Medium; You Can Either Write Dialogue or You Can't. And they both sound very logical. And esteemed writers, such as David Mamet, have been preaching them for years.

But, in my not so humble opinion, they're both total bullcrap. Yes, when learning how to write a movie you want to focus on structure and plot. And you don't want dialogue-heavy scenes where characters sit in coffee shops for three pages. But dialogue is the ONE PART of movie scripts that readers, producers, story editors and development exectuives will absolutely read. The same can't be said for your scene description.

I know, that breaks your heart. (You spent hours working on your lean description of a car chase involving nuns on mopeds). But when skimming, and lots of script readers skim, dialogue is the most efficient/easiest way to do it. So if it's so important how he heck do we get you better at it.

Awesome guide book for writing dialogue! Amazing narrator, good practices, no reason not to get it!

Gives a good starting place.

Enjoyed this book. It gives great information and the narration was really good. A book worth the time.

Good reference for writing dialogue.

I think that the author provides excellent tips to write dialogue and I did not have to spend a lot of time to get what I needed. This will be a reference that I return to as I start a new script. Not a lot of fluff or advertising of the author’s service.

Straight and to the point.

Straight and to the point advice, I like that there are exercises at the end of every chapter.

Good content...trying to be too witty.

The 1 hour long was just enough to not be a big thing and give me easy steps to follow. I listened to it while my car was being serviced Wrote down a few notes, and now I'm rewriting scenes with his suggestions..

His trying to be hip and witty, really was annoying.
