At the time I wrote this book, I had been in the business for about five years and have seen nothing but positive gains. I started simple, on my family-owned acreage not too far from the main interstate. I dreamed up gravel pathways leading to a few primitive camping sites.

Since then, I have upgraded several features in my campground and can say that I safely offer advice as to what to look for when deciding on amenities. It hasn’t always been easy, but I wouldn’t change any of it!

Dry and Common sense

I was hoping to get into the weeds more on details of what you need to do for things like engineering, permits and legal. He touches on these things but the information is stuff I already knew. This book might be good for someone who has entirely no knowledge. If you want to learn about why you should make sure you should stock hotdogs and smores in your rv park this book would be good for you. If you want to understand the engineering process in depth and not just a general check list of items you could get on the internet then this book does not have it. I feel like this book maybe have been more targeted towards old retirees not good with the internet.

Very disappointing. Don’t recommend buying this. Info was wry basic and more about general common sense business and marketing planning.

Don’t waste your credit!

Most businesses fail b/c people don’t understand the finances of what they are investing in. This book gives little to no info on the money side of owning a campground. At one point he says to give discounts to people who complain your rates are too high! Last time I checked a business figures out their costs and what kind of profit they want to make and then charge accordingly. He started by opening a couple primitive sites on his own property ~ this is NOT how most people are going to start this business. The info is VERY repetitive and I’m guessing he got in trouble with the city over permits and zoning b/c he hounds this to death. Save your money ~ Google and YouTube can give you better first hand accounts of ownership.
