Acerca de esta escucha
How to Get Unstuck introduces listeners to the ten core principles at the heart of becoming an effective person whose life genuinely flourishes and impacts others positively.
Bad news first: we all get stuck. It's a fact of life. But the good news is that it is possible to get unstuck and overcome the obstacles to doing great work and getting the right things done. The question becomes: How do you get "unstuck" in your productivity in both work and life—and how to do it in a spiritually healthy way?
Matt Perman—author of What's Best Next and director of career development at The King's College, NYC—has spent his career helping people learn how to do work in a gospel-centered and effective way, combining theological substance with practical self-management. In How to Get Unstuck, he will walk you step-by-step through the core principles that free you to be more effective in everything you do by helping you:
- Understand how you get stuck and what your obstacles are.
- Prepare to get unstuck by grappling with who you are and how you see yourself.
- Develop a practice of personal management.
- Overcome obstacles and adapt to unforeseen problems.
Drawing on the wisdom of the Bible and on the best of today's research, How to Get Unstuck shows believers and non-believers alike how to live productive, integrated lives and develops a poignant portrayal of true effectiveness.

It's vitally important to take proactive steps now, or you risk losing everything, including your ability to think clearly, be creative, remember details, solve problems and retain your memory.

We spend a shocking 43 percent of our day doing things without thinking about them. That means that almost half of our actions aren’t conscious choices, but the result of our non-conscious mind nudging our body to act along learned behaviors. How we respond to the people around us; the way we conduct ourselves in a meeting; what we buy; when and how we exercise, eat, and drink - a truly remarkable number of things we do every day, regardless of their complexity, operate outside of our awareness.

Joe De Sena has spent his life running toward challenge and discomfort. Why? Because how we react to challenging situations defines us and our families. The only tools we have as humans to survive the many peaks and valleys of a full life are preparedness, health, leadership, and most importantly, resilience. Why do so many parents struggle to finish things we start, delay gratification, and protect our health - and why do our kids continue to struggle in every facet of life? Because we haven’t showed them a path to resilience, and we haven’t fought for it ourselves.

How are you supposed to tell someone that they're not meeting expectations without crushing their spirit? Regular feedback, when delivered skillfully, can turn average performers into the hardest workers and stars into superstars. Yet many see it as an awkward chore: Recent studies have revealed 37 percent of managers dread giving feedback, and 65 percent of employees wish their managers gave more feedback. This trail-blazing new model eliminates the guesswork.

Using the biblical characters of Saul and Jonathan during Israel’s war with the Philistines (1 Samuel 13 and 14), Chasing Daylight demonstrates the difference between living a life of purpose and adventure and living one of apathy and missed opportunity.

Why is it so hard to change problem behavior - in our kids, our colleagues, and even ourselves? Conventional methods often backfire, creating a downward spiral of resentment and frustration, and a missed opportunity for growth. What if the thinking behind these old methods is wrong? What if people don’t misbehave because they want to, but because they lack the skills to do better? Or as renowned psychologist J. Stuart Ablon asks, what if changing problem behavior is a matter of skill, not will?

Tough Titties is one big permission slip to be a dork, a sometimes-unspiritual slacker, a late bloomer and, ultimately, 100% yourself. It’ll also have you snort-laughing in public and tapping whoever’s nearby to say, “Lemme read you one more part!” Which is annoying, but tough titties.

Historia
Relying on extensive research and interviews, and carefully examined personal experience, The Likeability Trap delivers an essential examination of the pressure put on women to be amiable at work, home, and in the public sphere, and explores the price women pay for internalizing those demands. Rather than advising listeners to make themselves likeable, Menendez empowers them to examine how they perceive themselves and others and explores how the concept of likeability is riddled with cultural biases.

I was excited after discovering this title because I had found a good, solid, wholesome, scientific, and Biblical "how to" guide on getting yourself up, moving, and generating productivity. However, as I was listening, I quickly became annoyed merely by the number of times the word "unstuck" was used in this book. It's ABSURD! It seemed like not a single synonym was used in its place. And soon enough, it became so prevalent, that all I could hear was the word "unstuck." The word "unstuck" is spoken approximately ten times every minute and a half! Truly, within the first hour of the book I had heard the word "unstuck" approximately 400 times! That, my friends, is a lot. After an hour an a half, I finally said out loud to myself, "If this guy says "unstuck" ten more times within the next 30 seconds, I'm returning this book." And lo and behold, the audio book was returned. I was unwilling to listen to that word 2800 (I didn't actually count, but I am tempted...).
Besides this unignorable oversight, the purpose of this book was clear, and the narration performance was "Pretty good", which is three out of five stars. AKA not the best. His voice was annoying to me and he sounded quite insincere.
I could potentially unwrap a few additional issues I discovered, and although I'm almost certain several more issues would have arisen, I, having only listened to the first hour and a half, don't consider myself qualified to judge this title any further.
"Unstuck. Unstuck. Unstuck. Unstuck."
