She thinks she’s hunting me. She doesn’t realise she already belongs to me.

I’ll keep her safe, even if I have to chain her to my bed to do it. Or maybe she’s just my next obsession, destined to be destroyed like the others.

I’ve always been the good one. I'm a protector. The man who follows the rules. Except when it comes to her.

Maeve was never supposed to get caught up in this. I took a badge to keep her safe and to keep Djall at bay, but I see it in her eyes now. She shares the same darkness I’ve spent years trying to hide.

She thinks she’s in control. She has no idea what’s coming.

I won’t let Djall have her, but I won’t let her go either. And if protecting her means becoming the monster I’ve always buried then so be it. If Djall doesn’t break her… I just might.

Lost me towards the end

Narrators were both great. Story started off strong but ended in a way that gave me the heebees with a side of jeebees. Check trigger warnings for sure.

Maeve is a police detective investigating a stream of murders and she is also always searching for information on her mother’s murder. Finding herself with a stalker that breaks in leaving her gifts and taking care of her when she is passed out.

She also has a co workers that secretly loves her. A twisty love triangle ish book.
