Resumen del Editor

Having known nothing but heartbreak and betrayal in Culpepper Cove, Callie Smith seeks refuge at The Red Petticoat Saloon. To the young widow's utter shock, on her first night working upstairs, former love interest Pastor Lawrence Black bids an ungodly amount of money for an evening with her. After his dominant lovemaking leaves her breathless, he stuns her with a marriage proposal. But how can a soiled dove become a pastor's wife? Despite her stubborn refusal, he insists she's become his wife-in-truth and returns night after night, not allowing any other men to touch her.

As time goes on, Callie finds it increasingly difficult to ignore her growing feelings for the stern but kind, handsome widower who issues firm commands in the bedroom and doesn't hesitate to spank her bare bottom when she disobeys. Truth is, she'd be proud to call Lawrence her husband, but surely her reputation would hinder his calling to become the town pastor. Will he succeed in convincing Callie she's meant to be his wife?

Narrator was AWFUL. ..the story was OK

It w as s a good story, but predictable. The narrator ruined it several times when he couldn't get character voices correct. He kept repeating himself and you can hear him turning pages. This happens about mid story, so if you make it past that point without frustration; then you might make it to the end.

Lawrence Black. Throwback to the strong men of the past.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Mr. Gerrard is an awful person.

The narrator is fantastic. Golden voice. I could listen to him read the phone book.

The red petticoat and the priest

Two lost souls filled with grief meet, but can they find the peace their souls need?
A sweet story with passion and gossip.Typical small town.
I'm not that into historical/western type stories, but since I do like this narrator,I gave this book a try and it wasn't that bad.

Should Have Been a Cowgirl!

If you could sum up His Sweet Amber in three words, what would they be?

Fun romp in the old West. The heroine is feisty and the hero reminds me of the cowboys of old.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the saucy black cook. ATTITUDE. Love it.

Which scene was your favorite?

Chapter 4 made mama's heart palpate. Lawdy!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had to take a break after chapter 4.

Any additional comments?

That voice is sinful, child. Plain and simple. You better strap on your knickers or that La Petite Mort will talk them right off. Warnin' you.

His Sweet Amber

Amber’s former love, Pastor Black, comes to the saloon every night so no other man will touch her. He wants her for his wife so he was her only “work” at the saloon. This was a really good book. La Petite Mort is an outstanding narrator who did an awesome job. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sinful Spanking

Where does His Sweet Amber rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Fantastic. The narrator has an amazing voice. He could seduce a martini from Mae West.

What other book might you compare His Sweet Amber to and why?

Crystal's Calamity.

Which character – as performed by La Petite Mort – was your favorite?

Lawrence Black

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Chapter four was an amazing audiobook experience. The dramatic reading brought the book to life. I will confess that I played that chapter more than once. Our secret. :)

Any additional comments?

I was a little nervous based upon on the other reviews. However, those problems seem to be fixed. The book should have a warning... body temperature will rise (I need not say more about that). I don't think I will share this with my "proper" friends in the book club. Now, I need to see about buying a paddle... ;)

Sweet-talkin', sugar coated candy man

Would you consider the audio edition of His Sweet Amber to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the book. I have a thing for the male narrator.

What did you like best about this story?

Every time Lawrence Black spoke. That deep, rich voice reverberates up my legs and down my spine... meeting at the perfect spot.

What about La Petite Mort’s performance did you like?

I would listen to him read the phone book. Where does a voice like that come from?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. Couldn't stop.

Any additional comments?

La Petite Mort: He's a one stop, gotcha hot, making all the panties drop. Holy hell! That book needs a warning. He is my voice boyfriend. Never, never disappoints.

Bring on the next in the series!

My first listen into the Red Petticoat Saloon series and first book of Sue Lyndon's. I am a huge fan of historical western romance, and this book did not disappoint. Two souls, Callie and Lawrence, each settling in Culpepper Cove after losing their spouse come together for a second chance at love. Callie is trying to get enough money to go back home to Virginia and Lawrence is looking to settle in his cabin, away from his previous days of being a preacher. Once they meet, all bets are off. While Callie tries to keep her eye on getting home, working at the Red Petticoat Saloon and having her only "work" be Lawrence, it is proving to be impossible to resist him. The interaction between the two is fun loving and highly explosive. The spanking is hot and proves you just never know what people are like. Who would think a pastor would dominate his woman with discipline and standing in the corner? This short romp of a novella was a lot of fun, and extremely entertaining.

La Petite Mort does an incredible job narrating this story. His deep voice is perfect for the cowboy era and brings those erotic scenes to life. A definite must listen.

Didn't finish it

I couldn't get into it. The narration was not very good. Sounded like the narrator tried too hard or something, sounded kind of stilted and unrealistic. The story didn't flow well for me. I didn't make it through chapter 3 so not sure if it got any better.
