Resumen del Editor

Explore captivating Hindu myths of Hindu gods and goddesses

The stories in Hindu myth stem from traditions within Hinduism, drawing on stories from ancient texts, like the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Keep in mind that because different versions of Hinduism inspire different people, many different versions of the stories float through the jungle and over the stones of temples and traditions. The stories in this volume are my version, though I’ve stuck as closely to the original myths and legends as imagination allows. At the end of this audiobook, you’ll find a short bibliography for further research.

Within this book, you'll find the following Hindu myths covered:

  • Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and the Beginning of the World
  • The Birth of Lord Shiva
  • Saraswati & Brahma’s Fifth Head
  • Shiva Tests Parvati
  • Shiva Snares a Whale
  • Ganesha Loses His Head

interesting

For me the book was great; summaries plus myths that speak for themselves. And the myths are really interesting.

Thanks to the Author

Turning Believers Into Non-Believers And Non-Believers Into Believers is highly recommended even for those who already follow the Hindu traditions and ways of life. This eye opening book provides an honest an unbiased look at the Hindu religion.

Very clear

Best part of this book is preciseness, author as per Indian mythology tells us how this world initiated through short story. There are number of stories(random) but at some point connection b/w stories could be made.Even a total laymen in Indian mythology could go well along with his book.

nice book

Know anything about the Hindu gods? Me either, until I read this book. An interesting and entertaining look at another set of gods who have been around almost forever, but most of us know little to nothing about them

I advise you to buy it

It brings clarity from turbulence yet leaves one questioning all that they understand, precisely like the subject matter it handles.

A detailed guide

For some strange reasons, I guess philosophy helps me now.Our ancestors were geniuses; I mean even if it were all stories and mythology, there is this fact that can 1 person actually think that all by himself and jot it down.

it gives a sneak at the questions of life

Nice primer on Hindu cosmology and mythology written by an insider grappling with this tradition and bringing it to a modern audience.

Horrible pronunciations

The narrator had a really cringey Western American accent, and pronounced so many names with wild inaccuracy.

And lest you cry prejudice against Americans, I'm saying this AS an American, haha.

I'm not Hindu, but I know enough (due to having Indian coworkers) to know that this narrator did not look up the correct pronunciations for MANY of the names.

I'm just so baffled by this — both by the unprofessionalism of not looking up these pronunciations, and the odd decision to choose a Western American narrator in the first place.

Would it have been so hard to find an Indian narrator?? Even a second generation Indian who wouldn't have a strong Indian accent but would still generally know how to pronounce the names??

It's not like this is an ancient, lost mythology... this is from a religion that a billion people still follow... and you didn't bother to get the names right?

I'm ranting but I'm just so annoyed by the lack of effort here.

The retelling of the stories themselves was fine though. But the narration really threw me off.
