Resumen del Editor

From New York Times best-selling author Tracy Anne Warren comes the second novel in an enchanting new trilogy about three princesses brought together by friendship and fate on their way to finding true love. This is Princess Mercedes's story....

While journeying home from Scotland, Princess Mercedes of Alden’s coach is set upon and her personal guard killed. Barely escaping with her life, she seeks help at a nearby inn. But with no money and looking little better than a beggar, the townsfolk think her claims of being a princess to be nothing more than a far-fetched tale. Utterly forsaken, Mercedes wonders what is to become of her.

After years of soldiering, dispossessed Laird Daniel MacKinnon is finally coming home. At an inn he is confronted by a bedraggled young woman claiming to be of royal blood. Daniel doesn’t believe her wild tale, but when she asks for his protection, he agrees to serve as her bodyguard - in turn she promises to reward him handsomely once they reach London. But Mercedes is still being pursued by ruthless hunters whose motives remain unclear.

As the danger increases, so does the desire she and Daniel feel for each other, until the two of them must face the greatest danger of all - falling in love.

Just OK for me..

Any additional comments?

It was a really nice story but it kept saying the same thing, except using different words. It could have been cut by about 100 pages and it would have been a 5 star book for me. Too much filler. I just hate having someone ask an important question then having to listen 15 to 25 pages before that question is ever answered. Too much inner thinking. However, I did like Daniel but if I were the man I wouldn't have been anywhere near as forgiving of Mercedes when they finally reached London. Like Daniel, I would have left and NEVER come back. I was so mad at her I wanted to throw my iPad across the room, but that wasn't happening. LOL.. Also, I do hate reading a book where the heroine has red hair as I'm always letting myself drift into thoughts of Pippy Longstocking or Little Orphan Annie so you can imagine how I felt about Daniel having red hair and musing about Ronald McDonald. No hero should ever have red hair, IMO.Loved seeing Emma, Nick and Ariadne again. Didn't like her father too much but he came around. Hated Lang and, for a bad guy, Smeek wasn't too horrible. And the sex? Wonderful. As to the narration? Ms. Eyre did an absolutely horrible job on Daniel's voice and scottish brogue. I just hated it when he spoke. She was much better in The Princess and the Peer.

My second time around and I still love it

I purchased this book 3 years ago and really enjoyed it. I was in the mood for a nice romance without any drama to forget my life and get lost in another's creative mind. So I decided to go back and re-listen to this book. I enjoyed it as much if not more the second time around. My only complaint was that the performance for the hero's Scottish accent was poorly done and that's all. This will be one of those books I will listen to again and again in the future as well.

Wonderful Story

Justine Eyre is a very good narrator. She made the princess AND the highlander very likeable. Add a nice story line and you have a very good book. I actually got a little weepy.

Loved the story

Very enjoyable feel good love story. The narrator was also good. The book had some mystery and excitement along with romance. I will read the 3rd book in this series.

Really, Really Like

The best part of this second book is the plot. Unlike other so many other romance plots where where the woman or the man is certain and other not each trying to figure it out. Both Mercedes and Daniel are in this drama together from the start. Mercedes is pursued all the way from Scotland to London and this is the tale of crime, protection and delight. There is a series of scenes in this novel which are simply feel good scenes done well and give light to the book. Warren does as fantastic job in weaving in descriptions this time. It was a far better job than in the first novel.

I am completely used to Justine Eyre's narration and she turns in another great performance. Warren even sprinkled in a bit of Scottish history. I'm going to read book three next hoping it is as good as this one. I give this one a rousing thumbs up.

Action pack romance

I loved it. Started a little slow but it was perfectly put together Tracey Ann did a great job and Justine is and has always been one of my favorite narrators. Totally worth any credit or cost I gave it 5 stars. I wanted more for the end but still 2 thumps up. Feisty princess Mercedes and sexy Daniel I don't like telling the story but they went through a lot of ups and downs more ups.

Worst Scottish accent EVER!!!

Ouch. Really distracting how bad the narration is. Accent sounds like a hybrid of Irish and cockney.

HORRIBLE narration of Scottish accent

Great story but the “Scottish” dialect/accent of Daniel (one of the main characters) sounded like Patrick on Spongebob Squarepants! I could not finish the book!

Good story not great.

What aspect of Justine Eyre’s performance would you have changed?

The only voice that was just not quite right was for Daniel MacKinnon. Her Scottish accent and brogue was not good. It was just too unnatural but every other voice was perfectly fine! I normally really like her!

Was Her Highness and the Highlander worth the listening time?

Yes, a little slow at first.
