Excellent conclusion to series

I have LOVED this series by Sophie Lark. The first, second, and last have been my favorites, although they all have been wonderful!! I have now read and listened to this book.

Seb and Yelena had a really great story. My heart went out to her. I got a bit angry at Seb. He showed strength though. Yelena showed us that she is a strong and decisive woman. A perfect match for who they are to become. The division within the families is heartbreaking. I have mixed feelings regarding Dante's actions. I don't want to give anything away so I'll stop there. There is the Russian's Winter Diamond that I'm curious about. Are they still looking for it? This is definitely a good standalone, but the depth is so much more by reading all the books. I've read them out of order and it works, but.... As a fan, seeing characters from previous books makes me squeal in delight! I loved how this ended. I cannot wait for the next series. Sophie's play list is great. Check it out as well! *I read this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.

Kat Auden and Michael Gallagher were amazing narrators. My absolute favorites of this series. (That's saying a lot since I really liked them all.) There was so much passion and emotion in the performances. I WILL be listening to this again. Actually, I'm wanting to start the series from the beginning and listen straight through!

what an ending!

love Sebastian in the earlier books and glad to get closure on his story! I listened to this book after book 1 and 2 and am definitely going to finish up with books 3, 4, and 5. love sophie lark's development of the story and characters. narration is excellent!

Dark Mafia Romance

Heavy Crown by Sophie Lark is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michael Gallagher and Kat Auden. This is the sixth and final book in the Brutal Birthright series and each book can be read as a stand-alone.

I absolutely love Sophie’s books! Shed did an amazing job wrapping up the series. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Sebastian and Yelena. I loved getting both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Michael and Kat did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you like mafia romances, dark romances, contemporary romance, or romantic suspense.

A Fantastic Finale

This book was an amazing ending to an incredible series. The one thing about Sophie’s books is that you don’t just get to read about sexy, alpha males and feisty, strong females, but you get a history lesson as well. I feel like I learned so much about the different mafia groups than any other book, which has always kept my interest. It was an adrenaline rush reading about all of the different alliances and how those things worked between them all.

I still think Callum and Aida are my favorite. I’m not sure if it’s because that was my first Sophie book, or because I enjoyed Aida so much. Their story was hilarious, as this one broke my heart. I have always liked Sebastian from first learning about him in Brutal Prince. He was the one who was not the killer, or wanted anything to do with the mob scene, yet it seemed like life just threw him lemons. He does meet and fall in love with beautiful Yelena, although she’s the enemies’ daughter. It’s a real life Romeo and Juliet story, with the exception of a happier ending (sort of).

I am sad to see this series end, but Sophie has set the stage for the next series in which we get to read about the lives of the children of our favorite characters. I can hardly wait!!

I throughly enjoyed this series. It was not all happily ever after tales. There was ups and downs, twists and turns at every corner.

Be prepared to be blown away with the final book in this series.
Sebastian & Yelena’s story is both heartbreaking and romantic, but mostly heartbreaking. Not just them but when decisions are made that result in dire consequences, I’m disheartened in the reactions of others. They do eventually get their HEA but looking back on this series, I think they had to work the hardest to get there. Sebastian was always one of my favorites, but actually I love them all, even if I’m mad at them.
This story was unique and different as is all the books in this series. That’s one thing I have enjoyed about Sophie’s work. Each story is different from the rest but always keeping with the mafia theme.
I enjoyed all the characters coming together and forming relationships a little more as this series continues. The chemistry is undeniable as is the hatred between the enemies who will stop at nothing to get what they want.
Let’s talk narration. It’s obvious that Kat Auden is a great narrator, however, I did not like her female Russian accent. When her character had no accent or even when she did the male Russian accents she was fantastic. For some reason Yelena’s accent didn’t work for me. I would try her again because accents aside she did a great job. Michael Gallagher was phenomenal. He’s featured in a couple of books in this series and his performances have been stellar.

This series was wrapped up brilliantly with the excitement of more to come when 18 years later we will meet the next generation of all the mafia children in Kingmakers.

To Sophie Lark: Thank you for bringing this series to us. I started with book 1 in Kingmakers without realizing there was an entire series written about their parents. I just had to go to the beginning to Brutal Prince, book 1 in this series. It did not disappoint. In fact, I’m now a huge fan of your work and will be looking for more.

This is book 6 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone.
I highly recommend this book/series.

what an explosive series finale!

Oh My God!! Sophie Lark did not hold back with this book! I have not cried this hard with any other book in this series. I knew the beginning was too easy, too fabulous. I screamed, I RAGED at certain parts

I've been waiting on sweet Sebastian's story, hoping after all he's been through that his HEA would be sweet and simple. But noooooo, Sophie just had to slay me with all the feels and rip my heart out and make me hold my breath wondering what will happen next.

Yelena is the absolute perfect choice for him. My heart broke for her, and she rose to the challenge and earned her crown as queen of Sebastian's heart.

Loved loved loved the ending!!! Bring on the King Makers!

Kat and Michael were absolutely perfect as Yelena and Sebastian. Her accent is so good I had to check her other audios and see if she really had a Russian accent. Michael definitely had the voice of what I had imagined for Sebastian.

Heavy Crown is the 6th and final book in the Brutal Birthright series. This book is told from dual points of view by Sebastian and Yelena.

Sebastian and Yelena meet when Yelena is being attacked. He goes to help her. They exchange numbers. Once he figures out she's the daughter of a Bratva boss in Chicago he decides to forget about her. However, Yelena's father has other ideas and wants Yelena to get with Sebastian to get to their family mafia.

Sebastian bids on Yelena and ends updating her. He starts to fall for her, but Yelena is hiding a secret. When Yelena's father turns on Sebastian's family, Sebastian wants revenge.

Will Sebastian be able to forgive Yelena for her family's wrongdoings? Whose side will Yelena choose? Will Sebastian and Yelena get their happily ever after?

This was such a fantastic finale to great series. I loved Sebastian and Yelena so much, they're story was dark and heartbreaking, but the way they came together and rose above it all was so good. I loved how strong Yelena was despite her father treating her like little more than dirt on his shoe with a hymen to trade away... Sebastian went through so much and was still always so optimistic and happy, I adored him and the way he loved Yelena so much.

The audio was great. I absolutely loved Michael Gallagher and Kat Auden was fantastic. Kat's accent was great, I didn't have to slow it down to process her narration, but her accent was still thick and believable.

The epilogue sets up the next series, The Kingmakers, and I'm so excited to reread that series as well. The second gen is one of my favorites.
