HEADCASE is a ten-episode comedy about neurotic rising hip hop star Ghost (Chris Redd) and his bumpy mental health journey as he navigates therapy, fame, and chaos. After a very public breakdown, his label forces him into sessions with a dorky, white therapist, Gordon (Will Stephen), who has never heard of Ghost. Meanwhile, his relentless manager, Laverne (Bresha Webb), fights to keep his career afloat while chasing her own industry ambitions. His ex-partner-turned-proud-snitch Mack Stacks (Joey Bada$$) is out of jail and out for revenge, and his grifter father (Roy Wood Jr.) is desperate for the spotlight. Is it even possible to just… rap?

A sharp satire of the hip hop industry—riffing on everything from the Drake/Kendrick feud to 6ix9ine snitching and more—HEADCASE skewers authenticity, masculinity, and "sanity" in modern music.

Flat Out Funny!!

Ya’ll!!! This is sooo funny! Roy Wood Jr. steals the show!!! A definite winner!! Everyone on this project plays their part well.

I loved this cast and the story was stupid funny! If you like the culture and stupid humor you won’t be disappointed. I recommend

laughing the entire time

If this book was a movie it would be a hit on Tubi. I really enjoy listening to this at work, I was at my desk laughing the entire time and finished the rest on my ride home from work

Acknowledging mental health

I would really give this book a 3 1/2 star rating. It’s a quirky comedy. It gets a little silly at times and misdirected, but it is entertaining.

Funny Stuff

This was funny. I will listen to it again and again. Ghost and his father had me laughing so hard with their antics my side was hurting.

Hilariously realistic

What a hoot! Beautifully performed! It kept me engaged throughout. These Audible Originals that I’ve heard are really well done - good scripting, great performances/narrations, witty, and engaging. Some of the rap lyrics were over the edge, but that’s real. Reminded me of the movie “Hollywood Shuffle”, but with rap music culture as the subject.

Hilarious, Irreverent, Spirit-Lifting Listen

This original story is laugh-out-loud hilarious, and I am not a hip hop fan. I’m also not fond of profanity, however it was essential to the authenticity and credibility of this work. It is well written and acted. The characters, including the protagonist’s mentor-rival, were relatable and underwent believable arcs, except for the father figure. Roy Wood Jr. played the father extremely well, but his character never grew, although growing is the central story theme. Overall, this story is well done and well worth a listen.
