Great read, great characters

I just finished my third Nick Heller series book. this is a wonderful writer and a great story I can't wait for book 4 Joseph Finder is a great find!

Boring

I was actually happy when this one was over. The story was unbelievable and the reader sounded l
Ike he was talking through his nose. I used to like Finders work now he's a little stale

3 ½ stars. Kept my interest.

I want to smile because of something unexpected or being surprised, and the book didn’t have that. It was more like a complicated many-layered mystery. We slowly learn things throughout the book. There is a happy ending for the good guys. There are a few beat-em-up scenes.

This is a private investigator Nick solving a mystery. It’s told in first person point of view. I prefer third person.

This is book 3 in the Nick Heller series. I preferred books 1 and 2 (Vanished and Buried Secrets).

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Holter Graham narrated all three audiobooks. I had problems with some of his character voices in the first two books. But this was much better. He didn’t do those weird things. So my only remaining problem is that he sounds like a college kid, not a 30 or 40 year old former military tough guy. I don’t think he’s the best choice to narrate Nick Heller - especially since the story is told in Nick’s first person point of view.


Narrative mode: 1st person Nick.
Genre: PI mystery suspense.

Love the nick heller character and supporting characters. Really kept my attention start to finish.

Finder Never Fails

If you haven't read or listened to any Joseph Finder books, you need to. He is a great story teller with not your ordinary "whodunit" plot lines. Guilty Minds is a great example of weaving the story in and out to an ending that few would see coming. Holter Graham is a great performer and he does this Finder book more than justice,

I wanted to give Mr. Graham 5* but I couldn’t get my IPad to work. Great story.

Performance

I love Joseph Finder books. But, the whiney, nasally tones of the characters voices is a turnoff. This was especially true in VANISHED.

Hmmmmm

I always expect, given the expert nature of Finder's main characters, that they wouldn't be caught so unawares all of the time. Still enjoy the novels, but too many times I think, "Boy, that wasn't very smart...."

Good popcorn thriller

This was a great popcorn thriller in which the initial problem turns out not to be the real problem. This book is fast paced and Nick Heller is a likable character. This book is often focused on the action story and sometimes things are tossed in that make for more suspense but aren’t part of the overall story. Like the other Heller books, there are the deus ex machina plot devices when he has his various buddies call in favors to give him fancy equipment or help him out. And there were a couple of times where Heller is doing something dangerous and he inexplicably doesn’t take an obvious precaution - one time I kept thinking “if you don’t do x, y will happen” and I thought it was pretty obvious, and sure enough y happened. This book was a great read as a mindless, action-packed, fun thriller.
