Acerca de esta escucha

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Witch's Daughter comes the story of Gretel, all grown up and investigating the disappearance of Albrecht Dürer's treasured frog prints.

Bavaria, 1776. When Albrecht Dürer the Much Much Younger's frog prints go missing, he knows exactly where to turn for help. Gretel (yes, that Gretel), now 35 and still living with her gluttonous brother Hans, is the country's most famous private investigator, and she leaps at the opportunity to travel to cosmopolitan Nuremberg to take on the case. But amid the hubbub of the city's annual sausage festival, Gretel struggles to find any clues that point toward the elusive thief.

Even with the aid of the chatty mice living under her bed, the absent prints remain stubbornly out of view, and Gretel is forced to get creative in her search for the truth.

I listened to this series backwards but I enjoyed them never the less. The case of the Missing Frog Prints was as good as the rest of the books. I blew through this book in two days. Parts are funny and others just entertaining. Gretel is smart and funny and clever and gets herself into all kinds of hilarious situations as she endeavors to solve a mystery. there are talking mice that help her along the way. Kate Reading is perfect for the narration of this book. I laughed and laughed. Having enjoyed this book immensely.

I really enjoy the Brothers Grimm Mysteries.

Kind of an interesting fantasy slash mystery with a strong female detective. Too much celebration of gluttony and descriptions of clothes for my taste, but neither detracted from the story that much. Narration was quite good, too.

Not Great, But Worth The Time

this writer has a really good knack for describing physical comedy. they also make heavy subjects like theft and murder light enough that this is a cute story. I mean just ridiculous and thrilling. I'm adoring the series.

good and silly

Where does Gretel and the Case of the Missing Frog Prints rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was a fun book to listen to. The characters were great fun.it brought me back to childhood when I would imagine living with these dark but fun characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved hanz. A bit obese, a bit of a slow wit, a bit lazy, but a great cook .

Which character – as performed by Kate Reading – was your favorite?

Valerie was my favorite just because I loved the way Kate reading would pronounce Valerie! But wolfie was also played very well.

Great narration

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This book was not the right book for me. At chapter 4 there was no suspense and the story talked about Hans' gluttony and Gretel's self centered, materialism. I had to give up on listening any further. This is for the ultra cozy mystery lover, not of a suspenseful genre at all. The narration was awesome.

Not the right book for me

Fairy tales are making a comeback for adults, it seems from Gretel and the Case of the Missing Frog Prints. This witty story of grown-up Gretel as a sleuth is well-written, light and fun listening. If you can accept the world of fairy tales where real people are visited by talking mice and gremlins, then you will like this story. You have to find it plausible that Gretel would grow up to be a detective after she and Hans handle the witch who wanted to eat them and find their way back out of the forest. If you can pretend, then you can live in the wonderful fairy tale world that PJ Brackston created. I'm sold on this series, and the only other series I have been sold on is the Millennium series.

A rip-roaring fairy tale/mystery

Growing up with The Grimm's Brother's Fairy Tales I found this book to be very amusing. The author did a great job putting references to different stories into asmooth sequence with lots of unexpected twists and turns. This is one of those books I didn't want to stop listening to.

Happy I listened to this book
