Resumen del Editor

Things to do: 1. Rescue sister. 2. Murder grandmother. 3. Don't upset the voodoo priestess.

The clock is ticking for Sabina Kane. Her sister has been kidnapped by her grandmother, the Dark Races are on the brink of war, and a mysterious order is manipulating everyone behind the scenes. Working on information provided by an unlikely ally, Sabina and her trusty sidekicks---a sexy mage named Adam Lazarus and Giguhl, a Mischief demon---head to New Orleans to begin the hunt for her sister. Once there, they must contend with belligerent werewolves, magic-wielding vampires, and, perhaps most frightening of all, humans. But as much as Sabina is focused on surviving the present, the past won't be ignored. Before she can save those she cares about most, she must save herself from the ghosts of her past.

Nice ending

This installment in the series is very good. It continues the story from the first two books. I was impressed that Sabina's character continued to grow and change throughout the series. Sabina starts out as a loner who has to do things her way. She also blindly follows the authority of her grandmother. By the end of the book Sabina learns to share responsibilty and accepts help from friends. All three books are filled with action. The one thing I did not like about Sabina's character is that she always excepted the responsibilty for everything. Luckily her self esteem issues do not stop her from solving her problems and growing as a person. I strongly recommend that you read all three books in order. I passed on this series for a while before I decided to read it. If you are on the fence about buying it, get off the fence and buy the first book. You won't regret it.

Exciting!

Another great book in the series. It has a great plot that isn't predictable with a constant build up to the big showdown. If you liked the other books in the series, you will love this one. I don't want to give specifics because it will ruin it.

My ONLY complaint is with the performance. I enjoy Cynthia Holloway's excellent use of distinctly different voices and infusion of emotion into the characters. However, someone please teach her how to pronounce some of the words correctly (facsimile, gris gris, mulish, and a few others). This isn't the only book or series she mispronounces words, it is very common in her work. I can't believe someone doesn't catch it in the recording process.

Liked The Story But...

the narrator seriously mispronounced some words to the point of having to think it through to figure out what they meant by context. I could understand different pronunciations for port cochere and such, but 'phA-lan-ches'for phalanges took me a minute. Not a huge issue in itself but disruptive to flow of story.

Kick Ass Heroine! Come and get it!

If you could sum up Green-Eyed Demon in three words, what would they be?

Sassy! Hot! Sizzling! and a few of luck.... Funny! and and great read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main female lead and male lead.. hot.

Have you listened to any of Cynthia Holloway’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love Cynthia's style with bring books to life and i do think she should be more used with paranormal, romance styles of books. Maybe even YA and NA books as well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end of the book. You need to read it or listened to it yourself.

Mistakes Galore

The novel is great but I'm wondering if the narrator is a foreigner. I have never heard so many mispronounced words. Ms. Wells needed to oversee the narration of her book.

stupid is as stupid does

I am going to stop this series here. I was often frustrated with the story and main character. When someone accuses you of something that is not your fault, you say that. You don't accept blame. But ever since book two I was aggravated at seemingly random hatred toward the main character. There is a level of narcissistic stupidity at certain points in the story. The whole thing fell apart for me. There are pointless lags in the story, if anyone I knew was being held captive I wouldn't wait to rescue them and spoiler alert if I had put off a relationship because shit was critical I certainly wouldn't find the location of the missing person and then not rescue them to have sex! The whole thing is disjointed and illogical. The only thing that felt real to me was the PW storyline.

Dangerous Plot Curves Ahead

Courtesy of Lost Art Audiobook Review

On Narration:
Like with Cynthia Holloway’s reading of the prior two books, her voice is great for this series, although not as spot-on as with a few other popular series in the genre, like the Morganville Vampires series. The voice is young and feminine enough to makes the Sabina Kane series appeal more to a younger audience than the one probably targeted, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Jaye Wells keeps the best parts of Mage in Black in this third audiobook, from her fast-paced “from the frying pan into the fryer” plot twists, to the loveable Giguhl taking another bullet in the tush. There are also new elements in this book that build and improve on the previous ones. For example, Jaye Wells adds a bit more depth in her humorous characters. Specifically, we are introduced to a fairy – in more ways than one - named Brooks/Pussy Willow. I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t listened to the audiobook yet, but this character grows in complexity. For me, however, both Sabina and Adam remained static throughout the three novels. Also, Jaye Wells builds on those lovely plot twists that make the listener come back for more. Green-Eyed Demon has an honest-to-goodness mystery plot, where Sabina must figure out who among her new community in New Orleans is a traitor to the Dominae. Mage in Black had a mystery plot with regard to which mage was trying to kill Sabina in New York City, but in my opinion it wasn’t a very successful mystery because the listener sees it coming. Not so in Green-Eyed Demon. The resolution to the mystery in this audiobook is what I call an “Oh!” moment. That’s when the audiobook presents enough suspects with enough motives that you don’t see it coming, but there is also enough foreshadowing specific to the perpetrator that you kind of should have. The result is that when the book reveals who’s responsible, you actually, audibly, say “Oh!”
