Resumen del Editor

What is transgender and gender fluidity? What does God's word actually say about these issues? How can the gospel be good news for someone experiencing gender dysphoria? How should churches respond?

This warm, faithful, and careful book helps Christians understand what the Bible says about gender identity. It will help us to engage lovingly, thoughtfully, and faithfully with one of the most explosive cultural discussions of our day.

If you want to learn more and love better, and are open to considering what God has to say about sex and gender, this hope-filled book is for you.

Includes a section looking at practical questions including:

Can someone be transgender and Christian?

Should I mind if people who are biologically the other sex are in my restroom?

What should church leaders do if a congregation member asks for their child to be identified as the opposite gender?

Is it true that Christian teaching is harmful and can lead to depression and higher suicide rates?

What about people who are born intersex?

a Christian view about transgender

it starts with a social and medical view and then it gets you into a religion statement, I didn't really find it per say helpful but it is entertaining.

Thought provoking, biblical, compassionate

It would be so easy for a book on this to be a slap at biblically conservative positions or an embrace of sin. But this book addresses a very important topic in today’s society from a thought provoking yet biblical perspective. The author reminds us we are all broken by sin. The book addresses God’s word and man’s brokenness, arguing for a compassionate and loving treatment of broken people while pointing to the cross and the need for repentance and the need to compassionately encourage and love those who deal with this form of brokenness no differently than those who deal with any other sort of brokenness.

an honest walk alongside those that care

the author has written a very thoughtful book on how to be more loving, caring, and understanding of both sides of this debate. he comes at it from a Christian view (Christ follower ,not zealot) I appreciated that much time was given to how many that call themselves Christian do great harm to Jesus in the discussion of trangender. He speaks open and honestly about how to help people seeking to understand their hands portray themselves or their savior.

Informative and compassionate

Andrew’s book is well written and informative without being too academic. In it, the writer speaks truth while showing great compassion and understanding for the struggler. He also speaks plainly to the church about its need to be educated and kind. This is a great reference book for any serious Christian’s or struggler’s library.

Difficult Topic

It's great that someone wrote a christian view on the topic. Book goes on details how christianity views man and woman, how they see Transgender and what they think about gender disporia. What they think abou bathroom bills, public schools, how trans folks should live and how should christians accept trans people. I liked the fact that they agree that GD is a real thing. I am tou not sure if this is a general view of the church or just a view of the author, because I know about priests who have a different view. I am not anymore at the church because I disagree with the messages on many points, and transgenderism is just one. And I had the feeling at the end of unlogical conclutions and that there were mentioned only those facts which were in favour of the statement. But it's good that there is a statement so you can understand what to expect and understand the behaviour of believers. Bring a lot of emphaty and listen. It's good to understand people around and their motivations.

Excellent! Compassion and Faithfulness to Bible

Andrew Walker wisely brings in the wisdom of Scripture and the Christian worldview to address. He zeroes on both the need for clarity and understanding regarding this issue, but also the need for Christians who desire to be faithful to Scripture to also listen to those who are hurting from the transgender community. The reality is that no one can truly change the gender that God assigned to them, but that doesn't mean we should trample those who are lost and struggling over their sexual identity.

About as compassionate as an Evangelical world-view can muster.

If you are firmly in the camp of Evangelical/Conservative Christianity… this is a book that has some good points. It is not affirming of trans identities… but falls back on the idea that everyone is “broken”… trans and cis alike. It’s going to take more books like these to make conservative spaces safe for people questioning their gender/sexual identities… I do appreciate the author’s sentiment that abandoning your child is “just as bad of a sin” flaunting God’s design for gender.
