Resumen del Editor

Executive, wife, and mother of an outgoing first-grader, Sydney Clayton crushes her day-to-day obligations at work but flounders in the cutthroat world of parental politics. She manages to avoid the local drama until she’s faced with an ultimatum: join the Forest River PTA or risk her daughter becoming a social outcast. Sydney reluctantly becomes treasurer and takes the recently vacated position of the president’s sidekick.

If protecting the children’s freedom of speech, one best friend ban at a time, isn’t complicated enough, Sydney and her husband receive an unexpected offer for their house they don’t think they can refuse. Embroiled in the deception and manipulation rife among the elementary school moms, Sydney struggles.

Should she sell the home she worked so hard to build in a town where betrayal runs rampant? Or should she stay put to avoid the fallout from uprooting her child?

As Sydney focuses on what is best for her daughter and lets go of her judgments, she finds friendship can develop in very unexpected ways.

Warm, witty, and wise, Go On, Girl dramatizes the dilemmas of life in the suburbs and the bonds shared by women. Perfect for fans of Class Mom and I Don’t Know How She Does It.

This book was insane!

Where do I start...

This book was every suburban Mom's nightmare. It was mean girls on steroids. I. Loved. It. From the opening pages to the last, this cringefest could not be put down. Let's face it, women behaving badly is great (as long as it's not happening to you.)

I loved the narrator too! This Lifetime movie of a listen was snarky and warm, and parent-affirming, and scary. The narrator brought all the feels.

I'm glad there is no sequel. My heart couldn't take it.

True to life

If you have ever had a child in school then you know that it is important for parents to be involved in their child's school events. All too often, parents take it too far and put adult feelings and needs on their child and say they belong to the children. This is a prime example of that happening. I was very impressed with how the author created the need to belong for both the children and the adults, and showed what it takes to make it happen. I loved how judging a book by it's cover is usually a mistake and, if given time and understanding, we can usually come to like those we have judged.
I listened to the audio version of this book and Lindsey Dorcus is a fantastic storyteller. I believed that she WAS each character she portrayed. Her narration had depth and feeling and I never felt bored with the 'talk'.

Some People Never Grow Up

As a parent, I feel like you want the best for your children. Sydney Clayton is no exception, however, she is guilted into joining her daughter's PTA at school, so that her daughter would not be an outcast at school and be associated with some of the more popular children. However, when the children's parents begin to act like kids themselves, the story takes on a new twist. I literally could not stop listening to this book, as it was like a train wreck waiting to happen and you were pulled into the drama. The narration was spot on and I could not have thought of a better narrator for this book! Well done!

Politicking in the PTA

I think this really hits home for me because there was always a group of the popular kids whose parents were over involved and who were the center of attention because their parents were super active in the PTA. This is whole book exemplifies daily politicking of small organizations like the PTA at its finest. I loved the realistic nature of Sydney's PTA involvement as well as her lack of genuine enthusiasm to be involved as well. There are really women out there that are doing it all, like Sydney; those who experience similar PTA drama but that also look like super moms when they're really not. Very relatable story!

I thought the narrator provided a great performance for this book. She was able to capitalize on the drama and bring the book to life. I can't picture anyone else giving as good a performance for Sydney as a character.

What The

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. First I must say the narrator was awesome and did her job very well. Second I am just shocked to know that even now this stuff goes on. Mean girls in adult bodies and causing kids to become mean girls. Obviously these women have too much time on their hands and not enough God in their hearts. Kids have a hard enough time as it is without the crazy as loons moms making it worse. I did not grow up in this type of society but I have heard about it. This seems so much like the world is today.

PTA mom’s. Need I say more?

I really enjoyed this book. I listened to the audio version and found myself laughing out loud, as well as groaning out loud. My own kids are grown now, but I teach at an Elementary School and can tell you this book is pretty spot on. There are always those women that think everything is about their children, and they have to have the best of the best. Then again, there are definitely those that just want the best for the whole school. Definitely enjoyed this book and will look for other books by this author.
