A Cute Supernatural Fantasy

This is a short, fun, feel good story about the four final things ... sort of ... with a fusion of various tradition and mythologies to create a bureaucratic afterlife and an interesting conspiracy that is narrated well.

Strong Start, Lost Me After

Glenn Garcia dies as forgettably as he lived, only to become a cosmic anomaly in the afterlife and take a job as a Reaper, navigating a chaotic Underworld filled with strange coworkers and a larger conspiracy.

Now—I really wanted to like this, and I kind of did. I enjoyed the first eight chapters (that’s as far as I made it), but the number of names became overwhelming and I couldn’t keep track of who was who. The plot also started to wind in a way that left me feeling lost, like I was only catching half of what was going on. I wanted to see how things played out, but instead I found myself getting frustrated and eventually dreading picking it back up because I didn’t feel grounded in the story. I honestly think this is probably a better story than I’m giving it credit for, and I do hope to come back to it later and give it another shot—maybe with a better experience next time.

The narration by Josh Innerst, however, was absolutely fabulous—an easy 5 stars. The character voices were distinct and very well done.

Humorous

I especially liked the voices of the narrator and the production was very clean. The story was interesting, but I think the point is, even though you may think you’re a nobody, you can have more inside than you realize.

Funny

Glenn The Reaper: Death Is Not The End by J. T. Wilkinson is a great urban paranormal fairytale fantasy. Josh Innerst did a great job with the narration. The story is entertaining, cute, interesting, enjoyable, funny, engaging, and more.

Love the idea, and bringing in history of multiple religions

I really like how the author incorporated many different religions and their gods into this story. It’s something I’ve always been interested in to sort of see different religions and their gods and how they would act. They’re also thrown in and interact with each other so that was a nice addition. I found myself learning even more about different gods and deities from other religions. I found the voice actor to be amazing he gives such different accents and personalities to the characters you can really feel their persona when you listen. The side story of the squirrel was a nice addition as well. Overall an entertaining listen, well put together audio and for anyone interested in learning more about various worldwide religions and mythos I would definitely give this book a shot!
