Resumen del Editor

"No. That's it. You don't get it. I have nothing. No family, no home, no one to miss me. I'm tired of this life anyway. Just do me a favor and do it now."

The old man dropped his smirk and stared at the cowboy for a long spell. He got up, walked over to a shelf and took down a bottle Jesse hadn't noticed before. The old man walked over to him and poured some of it in the open spot on his head. "That's just plain sad, son," he said. "I finally met a man more pitiful than me."

Getting lost is easy. Finding your way home's the tricky part. The struggle for survival can get messy, and that's for those who care. It gets downright ugly for those who don't.

Enter now into Jesse's journey of last resort, pressed onward by an unknown force driving him back to the very ground he'd cursed before leaving 10 years prior. Jesse crosses paths with a curious character who is thought to be an assassin named Maxwell Calkinmyer, receives a partially shot off ear compliments of Crazy Mary, and is shaken silly by a curmudgeon by the name of Levon.

Getting There, the first book in the All Roads Lead Home saga, reveals Jesse's rich Scot-Wichita heritage as he treks up north to Wyoming in order to winter. Not by choice. He'd just flat run out of places that would take him. Along the way, he travels back in time to his roots, where his Native American grandmother's tales span over 80 years across pre-Indian Territory, linking his past, present, and future generations.

Time may not heal all wounds, Jesse will learn. It will, however, do its part when we at least show up for our part. Getting There is an up and down, emotion-yanking, laugh-triggering, thought-provoking tale of betrayal, mystery, suspense, action, and adventure with more twists than a secondhand bread tie.

L. L. Ward, a prodigal native Oklahoman, takes you for a ride beginning in the early 1800s and brings it on home to present day through the course of the seven-book All Roads Lead Home series.

Irish & Indian, Rich & Engaging, Historic & Fun

The only thing richer than author L. L. Wards’ characters is the spell-binding way she uses them to colorfully spin understated American history. The story is fantastically told in third person, and takes the reader/listener through many backstory time-flips in the first half of the book, before moving fluidly forward. During these toggles, we learn about main character Jessie: (1) how his mixed Irish and American Indian (Wichita) heritage came about; (2) how American history played into the toils and triumphs of his ancestors; and (3) glimmers of how Jessie’s own past and current struggles continue to play into his anger, resentment and relationships. Ward holds Jessie, his ancestors, and a host of other lively characters in a light that makes this story and the places in it (like the Flying Inn) sparkle with intricacy, intimacy, and far reaching interest. From page one (early in the listen) Jessie encounters personalities that are near-mythical and foreboding and irresistible. I was “fit to be tied” (phrase taken from the very early in the book), whenever a doorbell or phone-buzz interrupted my listening pleasure. Super wow on this one.

I fully appreciate the rich, southern gentleman/original cowboy voice of narrator J. Rodney Turner. Admittedly, it took me a minute to grow accustomed to his style, as he tends to fade out the end of words (especially multi-syllabic words), but soon I could not imagine anyone else narrating this magnificent story.

Enjoyable Western Story!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I was pleasantly surprised to find a thought provoking western style story filled with history and mystery. It honestly took me a few chapters to get "into" the story as both the story and narration are very different from what I'm used to. As the story progressed, I found myself enjoying the narration and was engrossed in the journey of the stories, cultures, history, and heritage. It does have a cliffhanger but that was to be expected as this is book 1 in a series.

If you enjoy Western style books especially with American, native American, Scottish History, etc. then give this one a try :-) I am looking forward to the remainder of the series.

I would like to thank the author, narrator or publisher for voluntarily providing me a review copy of this audiobook :-)

Good Story

I got this book via audiobook boom. this story is part of more than one book. each one is long and twisted. The story kept me listening because I wanted to see what would happen to Jesse. This first book ended in a cliffhanger that was continued in the second book. The narration was very well done. The past and present were interchanged throughout the book. The second book left me with a bigger cliffhanger than the first and I only had access to the first two. I would prefer a box set of books if the story is going to continue like this one does.

A Western..

Any additional comments?

All Roads Lead Home is an interesting.

Jesse, the main lead, has hit an all time low, so he decides to travel a little and trace his

roots.

There were certain parts of the book that was a bit sad but overall, a well developed

characters and a well written story.

J. Rodney Turner did well with the narration.

Cliffhanger Ahead. You have been warned.

I just finished this audiobook and LOVED it until the last half hour or so. Jesse McClintock is a wonderful character who goes through a major change in perspective in a short time as he works his way back home. I loved the stories about his grandparents and parents as he travels. I loved the hints of native spirits advising and working for him.

Finally, he arrives home, only to find that all is not well. I settled back to see how he saves the day. Instead, I'm left dangling from the proverbial cliff by my fingernails. AAARG! I'm deducting two stars to compensate me for the manicure.

NOT Happy

I was provided this audio book at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast

I didn't feel the book had an ending. Then to add to that angst, the second book is not available in Audible.

Loved the story and the narrator!!

L.L. Ward has created a captivating story. I found myself not wanting to turn it off once I started listening. The narrator did a awesome job of distinguishing between the characters. I never found myself confused which character was talking. Do yourselves a favor and listen to this audio book!

Getting There: All Roads Lead Home, Book One

"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook B"last."

It took a bit for this story to get started, but once it did the characters came to life. There was enough action to hold ones attention. The setting made

you feel you were right there. I will look for the next book in this series.

The narration was well done, the characters were well portrayed.
