Resumen del Editor

The aunties are back, fiercer than ever and ready to handle any catastrophe - even the mafia - in this delightful and hilarious sequel by Jesse Q. Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties.

Meddy Chan has been to countless weddings, but she never imagined how her own would turn out. Now the day has arrived, and she can't wait to marry her college sweetheart, Nathan. Instead of having Ma and the aunts cater to her wedding, Meddy wants them to enjoy the day as guests. As a compromise, they find the perfect wedding vendors: a Chinese Indonesian family-run company just like theirs. Meddy is hesitant at first, but she hits it off right away with the wedding photographer, Staphanie, who reminds Meddy of herself, down to the unfortunately misspelled name.

Meddy realizes that is where their similarities end, however, when she overhears Staphanie talking about taking out a target. Horrified, Meddy can't believe Staphanie and her family aren’t just like her own, they are The Family - actual mafia, and they're using Meddy's wedding as a chance to conduct shady business. Her aunties and mother won’t let Meddy’s wedding ceremony become a murder scene - over their dead bodies - and will do whatever it takes to save her special day, even if it means taking on the mafia.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Meddy Chan and her indomitable aunties are back in the hilarious Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto."—PopSugar

“Sutanto deftly blends preposterous humor (British slang, mafia posers) with enduring devotion to prove ‘there is no right or wrongway to ‘being Asian.’”—Booklist

“Charming, chaotic, and sometimes ridiculous, this tale will appeal to anyone who both adores and is embarrassed by their family, which is just about everyone.”—Publishers Weekly

Hoping for another Auntie novel

For some reason, I couldn't get into the beginning of this book in the series, but so glad I kept going.
I truly laughed out loud quite a few times and I just love the antics of the Aunties.
I will listen again because I may have been distracted at the start.
This is a fun listen.

The Best Sequel!

I love this book! I'm so sad that it's over. I am going to miss Meddy and her loveable Aunties so much! The performance was amazing! The story was so well written. It was just an overall great read all around.

Just as fun as the first

It hit the hilarious, chaotic notes that the first story also held. It gave me laughs, the Aunties were a delight, and I feel like there wasn't much I would have changed. The only part that did feel off was all the secrets around Nathan and all the disappearances during her own wedding (I think that wouldn't have been pulled off as easily), but it was still a very fun book to follow up on a hilarious prequel.

Not As Good As First

I liked this second book in the sequel, however, it did not keep me laughing like the first one. I’m glad I did the audiobook again. I highly recommend the audiobooks.

Wow!

Such a great book with lots of suspense. I was freaking out for the man character half the time thinking everything would end in disaster at every turn. Also, I like how the author highlights issues most people face, family embarrassment. Though we love our families, they can drive us a tad bit nutty but no matter what we go through, they are always there.

Interesting sequel

This sequel was a great follow up to Dial A for Aunties (which I liked slightly more). It has a similar vibe with the same endearing characters and crazy plot twists. I would definitely say that you need to read them in order!

Fun, Chaotic, and Hilarious Characters

This book is fun, chaotic, sweet, and hilarious. The mc’s mother and aunts are my favorite parts of the story. I also noticed a bit of Meddy’s growth and maturity in this book versus the first one, which is a plus. I loved when she stood up for her family. It’s a fast read and a good time. Last but not least, I respect and appreciate how Jesse Q. Sutanto wanted to focus on the different Asian diaspora experiences:

"The experience really hammered home how different every Asian diaspora experience is. A lot of the time, we tend to get lumped into one single category: Asian. An umbrella term that ignores the huge differences that arise based on not just where we’re from, but when we left and where we settled down."
