Acerca de esta escucha

Foreign Faction blows the cover off the lone intruder / sexual predator theory and reveals startling new evidence that heretofore has only been seen by a select few. Kolar's work offers an entirely new perspective for the events leading up to JonBenet's murder on Christmas day 1996, and it will ultimately redefine the public's perception of one of the most unusual murder investigations this country has ever witnessed.

Great reader

This was an interesting book but sometimes seemed to drag on…. The reader had a great voice that was engaging and easy to listen too!

Detailed information

I went in with no opinion and now understand who I believe did this. I only wish this book could put this to rest once and for all

Very detailed, but left out the most important detail of all.

If you have become obsessed about this case, like I have, then this book is worth a read or listen. This is my fourth book on this case, along with 100 or so YouTube videos, and I think I know this case almost as well as the investigators. There’s only two possible perpetrators that committed this crime. It’s either Burke Ramsey or an intruder. It could not have been the father John Ramsey because there’s no way he could’ve ever gotten his wife to write the ransom note or not turn on him when she found out that her beloved daughter was sexually assaulted. And it could not be Patsy Ramsey because the autopsy evidence is pretty clear that the daughter was strangled first (petechial hemorrhaging in the eyes and half moon fingernail marks above the ligature) and then struck on the head with a vicious blow.

Kolar attempts to make the case that Burke did it and that’s what drew me to listen to this book. I initially thought Burke did it also. I wanted to see what evidence Kolar put forth. In the end, he would lose his case in a court of law because he does not prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. I think he does a decent job at negating some of the evidence of the intruder theory proposed by famed investigator Lou Smit. But the problem is that Kolar never described his theory on how Burke actually did it and how the parents found their daughter and staged the crime. He only describes that Burke likely did it. But where are the details? And the details matter.

There is no way that a nine-year-old could have created a garrote with sophisticated knots, broken a thick wooden paint brush handle into 3 pieces, cut parachute cord (who has that in their house) in her bedroom, etc. Most people agree with this logic and say that is what the father John did AFTER they found JonBenet. But that creates a HUGE problem! That means that Burke did not strangle her, but struck her on the head (which goes against the autopsy evidence.) But… if that is the case, the parents would have called 911 if they discovered their unconscious or dead daughter without knowing who or how this happened.

It is important to remember that there’s absolutely no evidence of any trauma to JonBenét’s head by just looking at her. Even the police officers did not know she was struck on the head. This was only found at autopsy and not with a simple visual examination of the outside of her head.

It is extremely unlikely that if they found JB AFTER the head assault they would just assume…”she is probably dead, Oh, and Burke must have done it… and let’s now create the most ridiculous staging… create a garrote, write a 3 page ransom note, instead of just saying she fell down the stairs? If they SAW Burke strike her, they DEFINITELY would have called 911 immediately to try to save her life.

After studying this true crime case for many months, I simply cannot think of any scenario in which Burke commits this crime that makes sense in light of ALL of the evidence. And apparently, Kolar cannot think of any way either, because he never provides the details of how Burke did it, or where the assault occurred, or when it happened, or what implement was used to strike her, or anything like this. This is a huge problem!

On top of this major problem of the book, as other reviewers have mentioned, the narration is not very good at all. The woman who reads the book sounds like an AI generated voice with no emotion or intonation.

Don’t get me wrong, the book is well written, detailed and organized well and offers a few gems of insight. If you are an avid follower of this case, it is worth a listen. But it does not solve the case beyond a reasonable doubt. DA Alex Hunter was correct when he decided to not take this case to trial.

A fact-based account.

This book & the sheer number of facts presented within, really made me aware of so many facets of this case that I never knew existed. It’s a rollercoaster ride!
Highly recommend!

Long teaser with no resolution

The book is an interesting overview of evidence related to the unsolved crime of the murder of JonBenet Ramsey. However, the narrator is poor with many errors in pronunciation and obvious re-records that make it difficult to listen to, she is also female where the actual author is male.

The book itself seems to be a bit of a diatribe on internal strife within the police department and DAs office in Boulder surrounding this crime. The author consistently teases - “more on this evidence later” or “more on that theory later” and then when the time comes to actually lay out his theory of the crime, he holds back and refuses to share it in the book, instead inviting readers to use their imagination to connect the dots themselves.

Overall, fairly frustrating listen and I won’t revisit it, but it did contain first-person content written by a person close to the case, so it may be interesting to those who are curious about the investigation itself.

Audiobook narration

The narrator doesn’t match the serious tone and its not a male voice who the author is. It’s hard to connect with the narrator.
