Threading the Needle

Sidney not only threaded the needle expertly, but chose wisely the narrator. Midnight Michael did a fine job. Should decide on this tale, you won’t be disappointed.

Great story

This story took its time and was told beautifully, although incredibly hard to hear at times. I highly recommend it.

I have no negative feedback to offer. I hated to see it end and look forward to the next volume.

Sadly accurate portrayal

It can be hard to listen to this story, but you’ll love Bass all the more for his tribulations.

very compelling story.

I enjoyed both the hearing of the story and narrator telling of the story. very informative and historically accurate about the native American owning slaves.

Realistic history

This book provides terrific insight into the plight of blacks during the Civil War and role of Native Americans as well

Love me love me not

Oh my a real life Black historical hero that we are getting to know, and love the fact that there are two more books to read!

Stilted language, disjointed story

I hate giving up on books unfinished, but did not enjoy this book at all. I think it's a great story, and I enjoyed the mini series that was on tv. But the writing in the book left something to be desired. The stilted language and lack of flow made it hard to stay with the story. Just glad I only purchased the first book, and not the whole trilogy. Wish I had used a credit to purchase so I could return it.

Very very very slow

Increased speed which helped. Will just watch the new show. FYI this first book is just his slave years. Not a law man yet.
