Good story but....
I really liked the storyline but wish there had been more character building more insight on what the characters felt, thought, & where they came from. Although Admiral Abson is the main character, I really didn't know him. I did not feel connected to the characters. I really liked the Spooky & Rick characters & wish I could've had just a little back story on them. By the end of the book there is the beginning of a great story. There is a good set up for what's going on, a sense of the technology, and the enemy Meme's. Maybe the author is holding back a little in order to have something for the next book?
The narration was pretty good as most all of Mr. Boyett's presentations are.
I'm gonna try the next book. I hope I get to know these characters better.

A pleasant surprise.
Where does First Conquest rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed this audio book. This was unlike any of the books I had read of this genre. Without giving away spoilers, the true alien nature of this world was amazing. I loved the way the author applied a great deal of detail to how another different species could overcome the problem of space and combat in a totally different way of evolution.
Well put together and the performer did a very good job. If you want a space drama with a curve ball, I would read this.

STELLA Book!
This is my first David VanDyke book. I think it was great. Very good story with all the Action and Drama you could ever want! With Great Narration by Mark Boyett the same narrator of Star Force! Hope more books follow!!!

I was glad to see the series continue. I was afraid it was going to end at "Comes the Destroyer". It was a good listen, nothing ground breaking but a good intro to the next part of the series.
As always Mark Boyett did a fantastic job.

Great Story, Great Narrator
The book itself was great, some lack of inderstanding physics but overall good. The narrator had a good voice however when he did female dialogue it sounded a bit silly.
