Resumen del Editor

There was no doubt about it, Felicity Oldfield’s grand London adventure had commenced. First, she had been abducted by a peer of the realm, released, then in less than a few hours she had arrived in London for the post of governess, been cast off without a sou, walked the streets of London alone, been pursued by a young gentleman, met a man of bad character who might have led her onto a path of ruination, saved by a rich and fashionable couple in their velvet-lined coach, and was even now being taken to her mad Aunt Ellingham where she expected to be treated appallingly - maybe even sent to the kitchen to live a life of servitude. Like every heroine she had ever read about, Felicity had suffered....

In this sparkling Regency romance, we follow the suddenly-poor relation, Felicity, as she meets an unforgettable set of characters. Just when her good fortune seems assured, due to the kind acts of Lady Aurora and Mr. Wilbert Fenton, an earlier adventure with the Viscount of Durant is given an evil twist by his cousin and her reputation is damaged. Even Felicity's indomitable spirit of cheerfulness and kindness is almost overset, but her new friends have plans to save her. The Viscount is at a loss to help her, being recently engaged to his dear friend Anne Clarence. But he falls under the spell of Felicity's bravery and kindness, and a tangle of feelings occurs that it seems impossible to resolve....

Excellent

I like this author's stories, and I like the upbeat way this narrator reads. She really gets the tone and mood correct, which is a rarity in so many of these regency books. More please.

Innocent young girl...

This story was about an innocent country girl going to the city who is accidentally put in a compromising position, and then when she gets to the city, is AGAIN put into another compromising position. It is only her fault in so far as she is so naive, but she is otherwise guiltless, and is persecuted by the "ton". She is gossiped about incessantly, and thus tortured by society, even though she is completely innocent of any wrong doing. She is thankfully taken under the wing of a couple from a previous book by Sarah M. Eden (it was so nice to see how this couple had turned out so respectably) and they as well as the male person that originally put her in a compromising position, work to get her out of this fix and to repair her damaged reputation. There are a few humourous situations, but not many. The narrator did a decent job reading the story. It was a bad story, but not one of my favorites!

So much fun!

Super entertaining; the plot kept moving forward in fascination, funny, and gratifying ways. Thoroughly enjoyed this. All the characters were great and well developed.

Very Entertaining!

While I can see the point of some of the criticisms in other reviews (they are not completely wrong), I just found this story delightful! I was well-entertained by the misadventures of Miss Felicity, however preposterous. Sometimes I just want a feel-good, silly, light-hearted regency romance. This was that and more for me. I loved all the characters, having listened to the first book in the series as well. I would definitely recommend it and will most likely listen to it again. Helen Taylor delivers another wonderful performance.

(4.5 stars) - A fun, almost farcical Regency romp

Felicity is a "Mary Sue" character - one of those too good to be true types - but she exists as the raison d'etre, a foil and straight man around whom the plot is built and then resolved.

This is a sequel to "Honoria and the Family Obligation", but I found Felicity's story more fun than Honoria's. While the story ostensibly centers on Felicity, it's more of an ensemble of characters whose friendship with her impacts their lives in unexpected ways.

And with a thoroughly appreciated guest appearance by Mr Mosely of "Delphine and the Dangerous Arrangement"

The plot & tone are delightfully Georgette Heyer-flavored - in some ways reminding me of "Cotillion" with its tangle of multiple relationships. I did not want to put it down till I had finished.

There are a few places where the plot contrivances were a little much, and like some reviewers, I would have liked to see more of the romantic relationship develop between Felicity & Sebastian, but it still works very well, and the overall effect is quite entertaining.

*Romance level: sweet kisses

*Religion: use of the Lord's Name in vain in typical Regency expressions (By G*d,for G*d's sake, etc), sadly, but not cursing at least

*Language: a handful of "d*mn"s + a" h*ll" or two

Warm and JOYful

I know that to be kind is better than physical beauty, this story brings that point out loud and clear!

Felicity is a saint for suffering Letty"s nonsense

Letty was a spoiled selfish little tart that needed put in her place long ago. Aurora was a savior and friend to Felicity. Anne's grand gesture to make sure Felicity would suit Durant before releasing him from the proposal made me laugh so hard. Who is she to decide another's life??? Chit!!! Durant and Anne were only friends, and he was doing her a favor asking for her hand!!!! She was overly inflated in her status, position, and power and needed to take a seat and let Durant and Felicity experience their feelings of love growing. No need for help from the peanut gallery girl!!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.
