Resumen del Editor

Georgette Fortune has loved the same man for over two years now, but he does not even know she exists.

When the handsome Marquis of Onslow appears at a house party in her home, the crumbling Castle Fortune, he does not recognise her at all.

With six unmarried daughters to provide for, and in the hope of marriage settlements, Baron Fortune has invited guests to a home ill prepared for it. He hopes that young Lord Paxton, who has shown interest in his daughter Jocasta will finally offer for her. And while he is at it, he will introduce his other daughters to the company as well. It falls to Georgette to make all the arrangements, but she was not expecting to deal with her unrequited love, Onslow.

Georgette is largely ignored by her family, treated almost as a poor relation, but will Onlsow finally see her?

To add to her torture, the beautiful Miss Julia White has appeared, the woman Georgette was sure Onlsow loved. Another guest is Onslow's friend, Sir Justin Faulkes, who had once offered for Georgette himself and still shows his admiration.

With a full house of guests to see to, plus her wayward sisters to keep in line, Georgette will be busy. But as she and Onslow become closer, is this a torture or a delight?

Cute story

This story is interesting. I liked the upbeat tone and narration, the humor, and the friendship between three of the main characters. However, there were so many characters to keep track of that my mind was constantly “on” in order to remember names and figure out who was whom in a scene. I want this author to write more books, because she’s got a few outstanding ones that I hope I get to see more of in the future. This one is worth the listen, but be prepared to keep track of a lot of people. I did enjoy the sense of the ridiculous in a few of the characters. That’s always rewarding, especially if some of them get a little comeuppance or insight.

Good start to a new series

This is a good start to a new series. I was a bit confused because I couldn't pick out who Georgette would end up with until close to the end but it ended well. Not a bad way to spend a lazy Sunday and i am looking forward to more.

The invisible woman

First, I have to say that the cover of this book is eye-catchingly gorgeous! And second, you can judge this book by its cover!

Georgette is a remarkable young woman who is generally unappreciated & unnoticed, but she has maintained a resilient spirit from her sense of humor that allows her to find the humor in & around her difficulties

This gets fully tested, first when Lord Lucien Onslow, the man who she once thought truly saw her but then pursued another instead, arrives as part of a group for a house party at her family's estate - and then the other woman he had been pursuing unexpectedly shows up, too.

The story delightfully balances angst with humor. The result is a wonderfully sympathetic heroine who discovers that her invisibility is selective to those who are in reality blind, & she finally gets the hero she deserves!

*Romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic

*The audiobook is narrated by the wonderful Helen Taylor who does a fantastic job

Very enjoyable

Very enjoyable story and characters, with the main romance unfolding gradually and based on appreciation of each other's personality (although each is also good-looking). A large cast of family and guests gathered at a lengthy house party gives plenty of opportunity for gentle humor and several romances. Very good narrator adds to the enjoyment.

Classic Regency Society

I enjoyed this book even though it moved at a slower, more predictable pace. It’s the first in the series and introduces the thoughtless father, who is a Baron widower with one son and ten daughters. The son appears to be a copy of his father. Next in line is the eldest daughter, Georgette, who everyone believes will be a spinster. The father decides to have a house party and he does the inviting, leaving all the arrangements to Georgette. The story is a snapshot of aristocratic life in Regency England. A variety of characters liven the good storyline, making it a great springboard for the remaining books.
The Audible narrator also did a nice job.

4.5 Stars, I Think

As other reviewers have commented here and elsewhere, there are a lot of characters in this book. I eventually got them sorted and can guess a few future pairings as I suppose the author intended. That won’t make me any less likely to read their stories, especially Leonora’s.
The author has a sense of the ridiculous that is in the finest tradition of Austen and Heyer: besides all being set in the regency era it is the one thing they all have in common.
I enjoyed the main character and the hero and hope they make enough appearances in future novels or novellas to allow me a glimpse into how they deal with each other as husband and wife.
I would also like Sir Justin to get his own happy ending and perhaps he will, although if it’s with Julia it will be an uphill climb for me to accept it. Looking forward to the future novels in this series and hoping they’re as enjoyable as this!
