Resumen del Editor

Inos, the late king's daughter, had been kidnapped through the magic casement even as the Impish legions overrunning her tiny kingdom were storming the castle tower. Now she was a prisoner in a desert land ruled by a dockside whore with a talent for magic and a passion for politics. She little dreamed that the loyal stableboy Rap had jumped through the casement after her. But no one really knew how the magic worked, and Rap found himself not in a desert, but in the steaming jungles of Faerie - half a world away from Inos!

Rap was determined to rescue his beloved queen, and nothing could stop him - not even the monsters and headhunters of Faerie, or the paranoid machinations of an evil sorcerer....

another great book by Dave Duncan

Any additional comments?

When i first started this series i was skeptical about whether i would like it or not because i generally don't like light fantasy. However, I am happy to say i was wrong about this particular series. After reading and enjoying book 1 i was excited to read book 2 and it didn't disappoint. Again, Duncan impressed me with his well developed and exciting characters, a story that was even better than book 1, and a more complex plot than book 1. This complex plot was especially important to me because i thought one of the few shortcomings of book 1 was a straight forward plot. Also, the narrator mill did another excellent job making the characters come alive with a good range of voices and an inflection that kept one interested. The only problem I had with this book was that i thought that the main character, inos, was starting to seem airheaded. This was entertaining at points, but at other times her seeming utter lack of comprehension was obnoxious. Despite this slight issue, i thoroughly enjoyed this novel and am planning on buying book 3 very soon.

Excellent sequel.

An excellent read. It's a bit split as it follows both convergent stories of Rap and Inos.

Promising story, but no real progress

The story hooks you from the beginning, promises to be great, gives goals and questions that need to be answered, but never makes real progress in answering the questions - each book ends without progress being made in answering the very first questions asked - to me, it seems an exercise in frustration; others might enjoy this style of writing. This series, though it has a very promising story, is just not for me. If you like stories where the answers all come towards the end, this series will be ideal for you. If you like stories where the answers get revealed throughout the story, this might not be ideal for you.

Excellent story, great narrator.

Fun fairy tale with excellent characters, a fascinating magical world with all kinds of different races (Imps, Jottnar, Fawns, Goblins, Trolls, Faeries, Jinn, and who knows how many more, each with a unique look and racial characteristics) a rollicking storyline with lots of twists and turns. I'm buying the whole series of 4 books. Great narrator too, does an excellent job with many different voices, I get lost in the story and forget that one person is doing all the voices.
