Great addition to the series.

Personally I’m obsessed with the Fable series altogether. Granted the series was cut short, I was still rather satisfied from hearing this novel.

50/50

Definitely some things I liked about it, but also things I didn't. Some of the action scenes were very meh, but I did enjoy the character interactions especially returning characters from the franchise.

I did not care for a lot of the newer characters, specifically the queen. It's also jarring how generic the King is portrayed.

the narrator does not appear to have played any of the games so the voices given for some characters were very off.

Okay story subpar narration

Story was okay, read more like a fanfiction then a published novel but my main dislike was the narrator. He had all the voice references from the games he could have used but chose to use the opposite type of voice for Ben and Reaver. The only one he got right was Garth and that wasn't hard to mimic. His narration voice was great though.

I love the games and it told me even more

Lionhead is dead and this book ends in a cliffhanger that no sequel will come.

I love Fable but...

I love Fable and thought this was a good addition to the lore of Fable, but is there a sequel? Fable the Journey (game) highlights Gabriel but doesn't resolve anything from this book. Would really love a sequel.

Absolutely Loathed this Book

I am glad I only used a credit instead of outright buying this title. I am neutral to the narrator and author, but I felt that the story itself was a disaster and lacked resolution.

Not Worth It, Even for Fable Fans

tl;dr, Story was bad and has no resolution.


So I just recently replayed Fable III and was interested in this book when I discovered it, but was ultimately disappointed. It's not the worst thing ever, but as someone who likes the series and was interested in both hearing about what happened to the Fable III hero in the future, as well as seeing how it tied into Gabriel's story, it was disappointing on both fronts.

On the first front, there was an A and B storyline that relates to the characters in Fable III. In the A plot, the more interesting part of the book, the Hero travels to another kingdom and faces some interesting odds, but ultimately he fails and just gives up, while I, the reader who likes the series and knows how strong this character is, am just completely baffled as to how he came to that conclusion. Also his friends imply they'll come back, but it never shows that. It ends on a cliffhanger with neither a sequel having ever been planned, nor an explanation in the game this supposedly leads into. Also, the B plot was just about the Hero's wife, who is just an unlikable character, and again, has no resolution to her story. Supposedly this ties into Fable: The Journey, but it really doesn't, beyond mentioning the protagonist of that game very briefly. In fact, the book never clearly states how he ties into the main story. Maybe he's thinking about these events? Either way, it's not clear. I'm not a huge stickler for staying to the series lore, or even looking for an amazing story experience, but this book fails to deliver a fraction of that.
