Historia
Heralded by the New York Times and Time as the couples therapy with the highest rate of success, Emotionally Focused Therapy works because it views the love relationship as an attachment bond. This idea, once controversial, is now supported by science, and has become widely popular among therapists around the world. In Hold Me Tight, Dr. Sue Johnson presents Emotionally Focused Therapy to the general public for the first time. Johnson teaches that the way to save and enrich a relationship is to reestablish safe emotional connection and preserve the attachment bond.

Historia
Every day, we hear of relationships failing and questions of whether humans are meant to be monogamous. Love Sense presents new scientific evidence that tells us that humans are meant to mate for life. Dr. Johnson explains that romantic love is an attachment bond, just like that between mother and child, and shows us how to develop our "love sense" - our ability to develop long-lasting relationships. Love is not the least bit illogical or random, but actually an ordered and wise recipe for survival.

IFS reveals how the subpersonalities or "parts" of each individual's psyche relate to each other like members of a family, and how - just as in a family - polarization among parts can lead to emotional suffering. IFS originator Richard Schwartz and master clinician Martha Sweezy explain core concepts and provide practical guidelines for implementing IFS with clients who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, and other behavioral problems.

Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Discover the "language of love" of your partner. These languages include love that expresses itself through words, love that expresses itself through the time they spend together, love that shows through gifts, love that expresses itself through physical contact, and love that manifests itself through acts of service. One way to know what your main love languages are is to think about the way you show your love to others.

His influence has spanned decades, but that influence has become so much a part of mainstream psychology that the ingenious nature of his work has almost been forgotten. With a new introduction by Peter Kramer, this landmark book is a classic in its field and a must-listen for anyone interested in clinical psychology or personal growth.

Resumen del Editor
A practical, down-to-earth guide to using the world's most successful approach to couple therapy.
One of the most successful therapeutic approaches to healing dysfunctional relationships, emotionally focused couple therapy provides clients with powerful insights into how and why they may be suppressing their emotions, and teaches them practical ways to deal with those feelings more constructively for improved relationships. Unlike cognitive-behavioral therapy, which provides effective short-term coping skills, emotionally focused therapy often is prescribed as a second-stage treatment for couples with lingering emotional difficulties.
Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy for Dummies introduces listeners to this groundbreaking therapy, offering simple, proven strategies and tools for dealing with problems with bonding, attachment, and emotions, the universal cornerstones of healthy relationships.

Historia
Freedom from unnecessary suffering is the goal of both Buddhism and modern psychotherapy, yet each approaches this intention from a very different perspective. "Buddhist practice helps us awaken to a well-being that is independent of our circumstances," explains Bruce Tift, "while Western psychotherapy helps us bring our disowned experience into awareness in order to live in a more skillful and satisfying way."

The concepts and interventions introduced in this book are designed as an adjunct to, and in support of, other methods of treatment rather than as a stand-alone treatment or manualized approach. By drawing on the therapeutic relationship and adjusting interventions to the particular needs of each client, thoughtful attention to what is being spoken beneath the words through the body can heighten the intimacy of the therapist/client journey and help change take place more easily in the hidden recesses of the self.

Awful narration makes this a tedious listen
The book is fairly good, with insights on understanding and processing your emotions.
Two things mar an otherwise fairly useful book.
First - the narration is just painful to listen to for any length of time. The narrator has this way of stressing the last word of a sentence and ending on a rising pitch which are just unnatural. The effect is maddening over time. Really, really awful.
Second - the book is repetitive, and seems to drag on endlessly.

Great Material Made Tortuous by the Reader
The EFT material is solid, but the reader is an amateur, and just ruins the experience. The reader has the most irritating habit of ending every sentence with an unnatural rising of inflection.

The content of this book is the basics for anyone Incorporating EFT into there practice as a therapist, or who wants to include EFT as a form of communication within their relationship.
The format for dummies makes it easy to understand and practical.
However… Who ever hired this voice over actor should be shot.
