The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain, and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod", a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

absolutely amazing

This was such an amazing audiobook!! highly recommend this!! and the cast was top notch!

the story

For an early Sanderson novel this is well done. The performance is great as always from DA. excited for sequels

Interesting and entertaining

I started reading the physical book Elantris and found the unusual names disrupted a smooth reading experience. I found the graphic audio version and the high quality production with sound effects, different voices and background music really brought the story to life. Political intrigue, romance, and action contained within the story made for an engaging experience. Highly recommended!

the dramatization was great

took too long to get to the point. Story was lacking. Bandin needed another book to properly end the story.

One of my favorite books

I have read this book multiple times and never get tired of it, so when I saw that a dramatized version was available , I had to give it a try. Excellent work by the voice actors! I liked the sound effects and the metallic sound of Aeshi.

I get frustrated with the way Serene cornered people and was told that it was bad, then she did it again. She was soo bullheaded and self-righteous that she hurt people and damaged relationships and made political situations worse. I must admit that Rathan turned out to be an unexpectedly interesting character!

Realistic

Wonderfully performed. I enjoyed the characterization. The idea of a godly city condemned was a great idea.

Superb performance and story

I usually don't like dramatizations, but this one was captivating. I didn't feel like I missed anything, and I enjoyed every bit.

I wish audible and graphic audio got along better, these are beautiful to listen too, and incredibly affordable!

Great performance.

Sanderson even says this is his weakest, but it is also his first book. I listened for more Cosmere and wasn’t disappointed. Many things could have just been done better overall.

Distracting mispronunciations

So I loved Elantris and thought this would be a fun way to listen again. But everything is pronounced totally different in this adaptation than in the original audiobook. And I could get on board with that if they made sense, but they don't. Duladel/Duladen was the one that really got me. In the original audiobook it's pronounced doo-luh-del and doo-luh-den, in this they say du-lawd-uhl and du-lawd-in but Dula is still doo-luh. It makes no sense. And that's just the best example I can think of. Everything is said different, Raoden, Kae, Kiin, everything except Elantris and Serene pretty much. It was really distracting. I don't know which adaptation pronounced it the way Sanderson would, but they really need to try to standardize those things. I couldn't finish the book because the weird pronunciations kept pulling me out of the story.
