Very good book, dark but enjoyable

Lots of darkness and drama, not a lot of survival. But, still good and enjoyable. On to the next!

Edge of Anarchy

This is another great book in a wonderful series. Definitely not a standalone, but well worth reading the whole series of books.

Liam, Hannah, Ghost and baby Charlotte are still trying to reach Hannah's family in Fall Creek, Michigan. But, what will they find if they finally reach their destination? Hannah is desperate to get back to her husband and son after 5 years of captivity, but will it be a dream come true? Or, will the events of the EMP make it something less desirable?

Without giving away too much of the story, I will say that this book brings out all the feels: Love, anger, redemption, fear/terror, betrayal, and sorrow.

The characters in this series are totally relatable and grow on the reader until you feel like they are family. The villains are truly horrible, the heroes are just that, and the other characters are regular, flawed humans.

I judge a book a lot by how I feel while reading it. This book totally consumed my emotions from start to finish. I found myself crying, cheering, wanting to throttle someone, and more as I listened to this book.

And, Ghost is my all-time favorite doggy hero! What an amazing animal he is and the author really makes him feel real.

The narrator does a great job and keeps the story moving at the perfect pace. My only fault with this book is that it ends on unfinished business and I have to wait for the author to get the next one written! I was given the chance to listen to the audiobook version of this book by the author/publisher and chose to review it.

Awesome Story

This is a story that although tragic, you will find yourself not wanting it to end. Great and believable characters and an excellent performance by Stacy, keeps me interested, intrigued and wanting more. Oh and I'm for team Ghost, Hannah, and Lium. In the earlier books I had hoped to see Hannah get back to her husband......but.....

Can’t stop! On to the next one in series.

There is so much character development in these books, along with action. It continues to keep me riveted and interested.

Both riveting and frustrating

The story is both captivating and infuriating. Ther are parts that are a little tedious where things feel a too drawn out, but I could not put it down and found myself yelling at and for the characters. Starting the next book immediately!

Reunion in Fall Creek

I love post-apocalyptic fiction and Kyla Stone is at the top of my author list in this genre. I requested a free review copy of the 4th book in the 'Edge of Collapse' series to continue listening to this well-written EMP survival thriller series. I have now written a voluntary opinion of it.

Spoilers for the series are ahead. I try to keep them vague.

The books of this series don't stand alone. I don't think you'll be disappointed reading/listening to the previous books of the series if you haven't already. They are all excellent.

In this installment, Liam, Hannah and Ghost take refuge in an abandoned house after Hannah goes into labor and has her baby. They soon find out that Pike is not dead and is still on his mission to kill them all. Meanwhile, in Fall Creek, the residents are getting an up-close look at the dangers from within the community. Quinn is ready to fight but Noah is still frustratingly oblivious to the superintendent's machinations.

Once again, Kyla Stone writes an action-packed, suspenseful nail-biter of a post-EMP world. Will the community be able to rally enough citizens to fight against the tyranny of Rosamund and the militia?

My favorite aspect of this series continues to be the character development. Hannah and Noah, reunited after 5 years, begin to see that reality is not meeting their expectations. Liam is (hopefully) realizing he is deserving of love and affection. Ms Stone has given readers many characters we grow to love (or hate, as the case may be). I'm anxious to see how the characters grow and change throughout the rest of the series.

The book has one of my pet peeves that I have to mention. There is a cliffhanger. I don't mind books having a few threads hanging for the continuation of a series, but each book should have a satisfying end point. This book ends in the middle of the final scene. Boo-Hiss.

It is not a Kyla Stone audiobook without the perfect narration of Stacey Glemboski. Her tone and cadence fit the story so well. The character interpretations make the story come alive.

Highly recommended.

One of the best

One of the best I've listened to. If a book can make you feel almost every emotion you have, from Total fear to bringing tears to your eyes than you have a fantastic author and awesome narrator. It's a series that you you have a hard time putting down. Can't wait for the next two books to come out.
