A LitRPG Dungeon Core Novel

I died. Respawned as a glowing rock. Now I build deathtraps, manage goblins, and argue with a sarcastic fairy.

Blake didn’t expect to get hit by a car—or wake up as a Dungeon Core in a dark, damp cave. No body. No hands. Just pure mana, a dry wit, and the looming threat of magical adventurers trying to smash him to pieces for loot.

With Twinkle, a bureaucratic fairy “assigned” to monitor him, Blake—now going by Nightshard—must master dungeon building, resource management, and core survival before the Bureau of Magical Regulation decides he’s too unstable to live.

But Nightshard isn't your average dungeon. He brings with him a modern mind: a programmer’s logic, a gamer’s tactical thinking, and a whole lot of debugging methodology. And he’s not just here to survive—he’s here to innovate.

What happens when a software engineer applies system logic to magical dungeon management?
  • Optimize mana usage like database performance

  • Treat goblin raids like MMO coordination

  • Build traps with version control and stress testing

  • And build a found family worth protecting

But ancient powers are waking. The Bureau is watching. And Nightshard is about to discover that the greatest magic isn’t in traps or monsters—it’s in the bonds between unlikely allies.

I really recommend this book, it was quite a fun ride and was surprisingly ok to listen to, even if it was one of those AI-voices. Just a few flaws, but overall quite ok. A longer version of this with a pro like Travis or RCB and it would be quite the epic tale.

Short, interesting and enjoyjable

it's a shame how short it is though However it's free to listen so whatever

it's good

Very boring to listen to since the AI reader has very little voice modulation and the writing comes across as overly analytical

terribly boring

This "book" started out fun for the first quarter of the first chapter. After that it turned i to a complete slog and never got better. I am glad that they let you know that it is an AI generated voice as I would have wondered if the reader was having a stroke most of the time. This "book" is more like a technical manual that someone tried to make funny. They failed. The amount of software development jargen in each paragraph is amazing. The corporate speak that is included is stunning. The fact that anyone looked at this work and thought it was good and unique is amazing. The MC has no personality. The other characters that are introduced have the same mentality as the MC. The story moves so slow that by chapter 6 time has moved forward less than 48 hours. There are references to things happening that are not in the story so you get confused and wonder if you missed something. The way the characters interact make it sound like a ton of time has passed but then they say it is just past morning. The way mana is used is not consistant from chapter to chapter. If this was written by a human and not AI as I am sure was done. The human could not have read any real books and was only told about dungeon creation books and made one using a technical manual PDF. DO NOT BUY THIS "BOOK"

All AI. Waste of money and time

The MC is the second coming, and is brilliant at everything he does, there is no challenge, nothing to overcome. my eyes glazed over atleast 4x and i gave up with this book 4 hours in, everyone is holding hands and singing kumby ya and its an utter waste of a book and the AI processing power.

the AI carries this book

It’s written almost entirely in computing analysis jargon. Nothing actually gets described as it happens. Barely even a story, the book only repeatedly reiterates a computational analysis of scenario preparation and action response results, as if it were a screenshot of CPU performance feedback. Constant repetition of the same 50 words for 8 hours.

It’s Like AI wrote a book that is about “writing a technical manual”… about an AI programmer becoming an AI dungeon
