Not quite as good

Changing the narrator is like changing actors mid movie! Takes a little getting used to

The narrator is different, but that's okay...

So Luke Danials is an amazing narrator, and I've loved listening to him narrate many books. That said he does portray the characters in this book quite a bit differently than Vikas does. I wonder if he listend to any of the books before this his ways of doing them are so different. That said 2 hours later i was fine and loving the book. HIs different is the kind of different that is bad because it's different not that it's bad on it's own. If the first 4 books were read by Luke Daniels and the last was done by Vikas i bet the other reviews would be saying "Luke was better".

Why they had to switch you ask?? Dakota on his facebook said he can't go into details, but despite trying they could not get him as the narrator for this book. It's under NDA it seems, but for one reason or another they weren't able to work together. It could be they had creative different, a bigger cut might have been asked for, or maybe they couldn't find a good time. Whatever the reason Dakota did attempt to keep Vikas as the narrator, but it didn't work out. Try not to hate either man for this, and just know that some times things don't work out.

This is a great end to the series and wraps things up soooo nicely, but still leaves you wanting more and more. You just don't want to say goodbye to these characters.

Narrator change

This is the 5th book in a series and having gone through the whole series with a single narrator then switching to a new one broke the immersion and really made it harder to enjoy the book by needing to get used to the new voices and attempting to associate them with the characters. But that felt like a chore because most of the voices sounded so similar I was having trouble knowing which character was speaking without paying my full attention to the book, and being able to multitask while listening is one of the main draws to audiobooks for me. And with a much smaller nitpick I wouldn’t have known any of the characters were female if it wasn’t explicitly stated in the book, unfortunately feminine voice acting is not a strength of this narrator.

when I first started the story I immediately did not like it the narrator didn't sound hardly at all like the other one and it took awhile for me to readjust and figure out which characters were which but once that came about and I start to really listen to it I started to like it this narrator is a lot different but he still does a good job sure some of the characters do sound alike and he doesn't do the best female voice but in the end he just sold the performances so well with the inflection in his voice and how he read the story itself now I'm going to miss the old narrator I don't believe his legacy can be toppled especially after did most of the books but this narrator definitely still did a good job and I feel like even though I will miss the other narrator I am excited to see how this guy continues the story in his voice all in all I just want people who are unsure about the change that even though it's different it's just like the old one and even better in some places so have fun and I hope you enjoy listening to the fifth installment of the Divine dungeon

New narrator ruined the experience

I really enjoyed the previous books of this series and was very excited to find out how it was going to end However the change in narration ruined the experience for me. Don't get me wrong Luke Daniels is by no means a bad narrator, but in this instance he didnt even try to make an effort to maintain the already existing accents and personalities of the characters that span 4 books. the lack of caring made pretty much all the character feel like completely different people and making it feel like a completely different story all together. i know for some people they were able to get over the change about halfway through, but for me i had just finished book 4 one day before this one was released so the change was very jarring.

Bad narrator

So the book was really good in the ending rate. But the new narrator Luke Daniels was horrific many of the voices sounded the same and he gave all new access to all the characters. But the worst part of all was every single voice sounded like hey husky male voice. The female voices were horrendous. They never should’ve changed narrators

overall it was a decent story, but the new voice really threw things off, and it was far to short and sadly kind of predictable. It was a nice story overall. I just hope audible learns to use the same voice acter for a series.

why switch narrators??

this was a decent series of books to begin. loved the original concept. but the narrator swap killed it for me. You cannot establish characters, attitudes, and personas, then completely change them halfway through. the new narrator does not even distinguish between male and female voices... sadly returning book. maybe i will buy hard copy and read to eliminate the new narration.

Narration switch

so the narrator changed in this final book. and it's super annoying. none of the female characters sound female. and we are unable to distinguish Hans from Cal, from Dale. it's a mega turn off and let down at the end of the series.

Switching performer?!

Why switch performer in book 5?
The new one probably wasn’t horrible in a vacuum but as a stand in for the previous performer this was very disappointing.
