Great Voice

When Bond spoke in this audiobook, not only did I hear Sean Connery, but I also saw him. The actor who performed the recording has a lot of talent and can speak in different dialects without losing authenticity.

Disappointed

This was ok but not impressed. I’ve always been a James Bond fan so I was looking forward to the audio, but it didn’t really capture my attention, just average.

Fun

The writing seemed a bit old fashioned but I guess it should. I liked that bond sounded a bit like Sean Connery. The narration is fully dramatic. Just a bit over the top in places.

Outstanding

Having grown up loving the movie, I was curious about the original book. Great story, phenomenal voice acting - definitely worth the listen!

The impression of Sean Connery as Bond by Jon Culshaw was very good. RIP

I must say this book moved quickly and kept me entertained the entire way. Culshaw was an expert actor/narrator. I was caught off guard at first.. I kept asking myself.. “wait who is this narrator again”? Honestly, for the first chapter I kept thinking Russell Crowe was working under a ghost name. Jon sounded eerily like Russell. I was taken back to the film “Master and Commander” over and over.. I kept thinking.. my God this has to be.. sounds just like Russell Crowe.. I loved his voice. Great actor indeed. Both of them actually.
I read the sad news about Jon.. RIP.
What are the odds we could get Russell Crowe to narrate a few exciting books like this for Audible? He would be great!
Dr. No was absolutely a twist.. full of suspense and action.. terrifying plot that doesn’t go without a steamy wicked romance.. Bond is supernatural in this one.. a serious tough guy.. who.. spoiler alert.. under the absolute worst possible circumstances.. cannot be defeated. Of course he is the classiest gentleman who seems to win at everything.. including wonderful, natural, beautiful love making. What a tremendous killing off of the enemies.. what an extraordinary escape..

The story that the move never was

I was always curious about the novel that launched the James Bond movies. So after listening to the book, which wasn’t the first book in the series.
I can say I throughly enjoyed listening to it from start to finish. Does not hurt my love for the movie. But it enjoyable to listen to the original story.
The ending does not drag out, keeping it short and sweet.
