Resumen del Editor

Welcome to Spellbound, where paranormal is the new normal.

Emma Hart hasn't had a moment's peace since her arrival in Spellbound. Her fear of heights hits an all-time high when she's tasked with mastering a broomstick. It doesn't help that Lady Weatherby seems determined to make basic witch training feel more like the magical ninja warrior championships. When a werewolf is found dead and Daniel is named as the prime suspect, Emma takes the initiative to prove that the angel's halo is firmly intact, once again stepping on the hooves of the cranky centaur, Sheriff Hugo. The heat is on as Emma struggles to get a grip on her broomstick and identify the killer before it's too late.

Good story. Too short for the money.

It’s a cute series with a good reader. I listened to the first book and decided not to go further because of the cost of each installment. Forgetting this decision, I purchased this installment from the recommended list. I can’t afford to go any further.

Mental Health Discussions and YA Feel

We join Emma back at the Arabella Saint Simon Witch's Academy and are brought right back to the feeling that I am reading about high school girls filled with gossiping, rivalries, and juvenile pranks that it feels odd to remember that she is the lawyer and public defender for the town. More death and mystery but this one laced with a theme of discussing mental health issues (namely depression, anxiety, possible suicide) and how even the supernatural struggle to talk openly about mental health struggles and finding support. Emma herself is taking "anxiety potions" for her fear of heights as she learns to fly a broom and sound therapy is also discussed in the story. Emma herself seems incredibly young and often very awkward with her style of questions being in what clearly is an insular small town where literally no one can leave and many are immortal. The love interests are very backdrop and mostly there is a good deal of sexual jokes as in the first one. Some of the characters and major relationships feel undeveloped, but the pacing is quick and easy and the concepts still draw one in to a supernatural cozy. This second book felt even more YA than the first but if you enjoyed the first volume I am sure you will like this one too. The audience is given more exposure to different communities within the town and more political structure around how these communities relate with one another.
