New York Times best-selling author of The Good Girl Mary Kubica returns with an electrifying and addictive tale of deceit and obsession.

In downtown Chicago, a young woman named Esther Vaughan disappears from her apartment without a trace. A haunting letter addressed to "My Dearest" is found among her possessions, leaving her friend and roommate, Quinn Collins, to wonder where Esther is and whether or not she's the person Quinn thought she knew....

Meanwhile, in a small Michigan harbor town an hour outside Chicago, a mysterious woman appears in the quiet coffee shop where 18-year-old Alex Gallo works as a dishwasher. He is immediately drawn to her charm and beauty, but what starts as an innocent crush quickly spirals into something far more dark and sinister than he ever expected.

As Quinn searches for answers about Esther and Alex is drawn further under the stranger's spell, master of suspense Mary Kubica takes listeners on a taut and twisted thrill ride that builds to a stunning conclusion and shows that no matter how fast and far we run, the past always catches up with us in the end.

Loved her previous two! This was much more contrived and slow with much less mystery.

Disappointed

I enjoyed the twists this thriller throws at you, but the performance by the two voices was so flat that I had a difficult time of enjoying the story for what it was. They both droned on very blandly, mispronounced some words, and missed the cues for voice inflection. The performance kept distracting me from the story. Too bad. Mary Kubica deserves better for her book.

Story was interesting but performance stunk

I love Mary Kubica's books, and this one was no different. Such great plot line with many twists and surprises and she leaves you hanging on until the very end. The narrations was pleasant to listen to as well.

Another great Mary Kubica book!

I was drawn in almost immediately. It's the kind of book you never want to end.
Love it

Well written and suspenseful

Thrilling and excellently read! My mini book club read it together and the two of us kept pace with each other effortlessly because we both couldn't wait to see what happened next!

Couldn't put it down!

I'm not gonna lie, I was super confused the entire book up until the last hour. I had no clue as to what was going on in terms of how the stories related to each other but man did it all come together in the end. I was not seeing that coming at all!

Wowwww

too confusing until near end of the overall story I guess notu type of storyline

Don't you cry doesn't really seem correct. I really didn't think it made much sense until the mother started to humit at the end

The people reading were dull, did not hold my interest what so ever. The store was all in the first person and felt like little exchange between characters. I love Mary's book but sadly this one did nothing for me

What did you like best about Don't You Cry? What did you like least?

The Narrators RUIN this book. I read on others similiar reviews and one where the woman drove them nuts. For me it was the man "Alex", I kept tuning out. He was pretentious, dry, and didn't get the essence for the 18 year old kid that he was supposed to be reading for. Story is good, but this is one I wish I would have read.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Kate Rudd and Kirby Heyborne ?

Anyone but Kirby Heyborne. Who has a nice voice. Just really missed the mark on this one. Specifically when he goes into detail. I vividly remember him describing Pear and her Ombre hair. They way he said Ombre immediately struck a nerve. Like you're supposed to be an 18 year old boy.

Terrible Narrators....Just Terrible
