Resumen del Editor

From bestselling author Kenneth C. Davis comes a treasure trove of answers to questions about our world.

Was there an Atlantis?

What's the smallest country in the world?

What's the difference between a jungle and a rain forest?

Kenneth C. Davis, author of Don't Know Much About® History, Don't Know Much About the Civil War and Don't Know Much About the Bible, turns his inimitable wit and wide-ranging knowledge to the subject of geography, and proves once and for all that there is a lot more to it than labeling countries on a map.

From often amusing perceptions people have had through the ages about the world and the universe to the changing map of today, Davis shows how geography is really a great crossroad of many fields: biology, meteorology, astronomy, history, economics, and even politics. In this lively, entertaining, and endlessly fascinating presentation, you'll hear about the personalities that helped shape the world and learn the answers to questions that have vexed most of us since grade school. Along the way, Davis offers an affectionate ode to the earth: a celebration of the earth, a searching investigation of the destruction of our habitat, and a practical guide to saving our home planet.

For anyone who has felt geographically ignorant ever since gas stations stopped handing out free maps, Don't Know Much About Geography is enormously informative entertainment.

Hard to take in fully with Audio only

I really love Kenneth Davis' books, and I love this one, but i wish it came with a PDF like some courses do, because it's a lot to follow without some maps. I listened to a few chapters multiple times, and if you are ever goiing to be on jeopardy, read this book!

Wonder solver

This book filled in a lot of gaps for history and geography. The appendix describes where US states get their name and nickname (mostly from the rest of the world - ex: Florida has something to do with the Spanish word "Flores" meaning flowers.

interesting and educational!

Alot of random facts I didn't know ranging from space to deep time and politics to nature. I plan on listening to all the books in this series now. would definitely recommend for people who have an interest in history or science.

Packed

Enjoyed listening to this, it was fast paced and jammed with facts. At times it was more historic than geographic, but there was plenty of good geography to be satisfying. There were whole chapters that seemed peripheral but it was so quick and packed with facts, I may just listen to it all again. I may do it with a Goodes World Atlas in hand. It's a fun listen.

Propaganda

I should have read the reviews before getting this one. work so much misinformation, it was hard to distinguish fact from fiction.

This Book Misrepresents Itself

I have read and enjoyed several of Kenneth Davis' "Don't Know Much books." I did not enjoy this one. It is crap. It gives a few geographical facts, most of which those of us who were paying attention in class knew by the time we finished junior high school. He also fills up space with tables of English and metric measurements, and English to metric conversions, much like a sixth grade math book might. In rest of the book Davis drones on for literally hours about global warming, warning us of its effects, and attempting to prop up all the theories associated with global warming. It is condescending, and it is not what the book advertises. I don't care how one feels about global warming, that is not why anyone would buy a Kenneth Davis book to learn about geography. If you want to learn about global warming, go to a more scientific source. If you want to learn about geography, and the history associated with it, there must be better sources.

Disappointing - Too Simple.

I love history and geography and was hopeful that this book would add to my knowledge and encourage my passion. Unfortunately I found the book too simplistic. If you do not have a basic knowledge of the world it might be for you, but I found myself distracted by its errors and longing for more depth. I will return it for my credit.
