Story was wonderful...but narration was lacking

Would you consider the audio edition of Dinner for God to be better than the print version?

Unfortunately I would not consider the audio version of the book better than the print version. The audio would have benefitted greatly from having a professional do the narration. Someone like Susan Erikson or someone of her calibre would have made this a 5 star audio book. As it is it felt like the auther, who did the narration himself, was rushing through the reading and each character (most of whom were women) all had the same vocal tone. I really liked the story and the premise of the book but I was tempted at about 1/3 of the way through to just download the book on Kindle and read it myself. I did stick with it and listen to the audio book all the way through, but the experience of the story would have been much richer with a different narrator.

I loved the idea of the story and the characters

What didn’t you like about Rayme Scarioni’s performance?

Unfortunately I didn't appreciate his performance very much at all.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I don't think it needs a tag line. I believe that the title speaks volumes and asks a host of questions as well.

Yes, I wanted to share this book with friends, but in all fairness I cannot recommend the audio version, so I went to Amazon and ordered 4 copies of the book.

Oh My God! Borrrrring!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Everything about this book was flat out annoying. The author's voice and speaking style was NOT at all pleasant. The story was boring and annoying. Story tries WAY too hard to be inspirational but is just shallow and lacks imagination and substance. Listening to this book is equivalent to standing in line all day while a child cries...Torture! How did this book even get published??

Would you ever listen to anything by Rayme Scarioni again?

Never!

The best well-rounded book I've read in years!

What did you love best about Dinner for God?

The story is so interesting it was HARD to pause from listening! It includes humor, interesting character development (I grew to love and become "friends" with certain characters!), and a spiritual angle that prompted self-reflection. The story magically portrays how all of our lives CAN be!

What did you like best about this story?

The message to "be present" in the moment, to enjoy experiences and items that come into our lives without holding ourselves back or "saving them for a special occasion". This book helped me to focus more on the joy of the present, the joy of myself and friends, and to consider spiritual aspects surrounding us. I found the message to be timely, soulful, and informative in a fun way. It's the best book I've read or listened to in some time!

Which character – as performed by Rayme Scarioni – was your favorite?

Aunt Maddie by far! I want to be like her when I age!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh definitely. One work night I was up until past 1:00 a.m. because one chapter would lead me to another and I couldn't stop because I wanted to know what happened!

I'm recommending this book to everyone I know. The friends who have read the printed version say the same as me, they love it and can't put it down! Thank you to the author! Is there a sequel coming out?
