Resumen del Editor

THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY, LIFE-AFFIRMING MEMOIR YOU WILL EVER LISTEN TO ABOUT THE POWER OF LOVE.

Did I Ever Tell You? comes across like a novel but is an unforgettable true story.

Genevieve (Gwen) Kingston was just eleven years old when her mother passed away, leaving behind a chest filled with gifts and letters to celebrate the milestones of Gwen’s life and each of her birthdays until age thirty.

When Did I Ever Tell You? opens, just three packages remain: engagement, marriage, and first baby. Tracing Gwen’s coming-of-age, the book reveals a treasure hunt, with each gift and letter unveiling more about her mother, her family, and—ultimately—herself.

Like Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner and The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, Did I Ever Tell You? is a riveting book filled with unexpected twists and powerful life lessons. Through her mother’s fierce and courageous love, Gwen was granted the tools not only to move through grief but to cherish life.

For as her mother says in one of her letters: “love is stronger than death.”

Dear Listener,

What did I learn about myself, my mother, and the nature of love and grief from writing my memoir?
"I began to write this book the year I turned 31. By then, I’d opened all the birthday gifts from my mother, and what was left in the chest was engagement, marriage, baby. I was trying to figure out whether those were things I wanted for my future, and to do that, I realized I had to go back through all my mother’s letters and revisit all the insights she’d ever given me about the kind of woman she was to learn what kind of woman I wanted to be.
My journey into our shared and separate pasts convinced me that what she had written to me all those years ago was true: “Love is stronger than death.” My hope is that anyone who listens to this audiobook will feel inspired to say the things they want to say to the people they love, right now, before any more time goes by."– Genevieve Kingston, writer of Did I Ever Tell You?

A bittersweet work of love a wisdom

No words suffice to describe this beautiful story of a mother’s love that transcends her death. Told authentically with love and grace by a daughter she would be, oh so proud of!!! Bravo, sweet Guinie!

Love wins

I listened to the audiobook version of Ms. Kingston's memoir. I was reminded of Mitch Albom's quote "Love wins" after finishing this beautifully written and narrated telling of a young woman's life. Thanks to posthumous support from a loving mother, she incrementally begins realizing her ability to live fully despite the loss and grief associated with death.
