When Mercy realises there are secret passages in the walls, she thinks she might have cracked the case… but will she track the killer down, or will Inishmore be her resting place forever more?

Another great listen

I love this series, the only thing that is a little annoying is that Mercy always says “You’ve met me” which is a bit repetitive. Otherwise really enjoyable and well-narrated!

Great book! But… Merci gets on my nerves with her, I can’t stay out of this because of my writers brain. Yes, she can! It stresses me out! 😂

I stumbled upon this author and series recently and was delighted to see a new installment was scheduled for April 2025 release. I enjoy the setting and the characters who inhabit Shamrock Cove. If I’m being completely honest, I particularly like the tension and building relationship between Mercy (FMC) and Kieran (MMC) and the way their respective professions continue to intertwine. I like that the setting for this story moved us out of Sunshine Cove but still included the characters we’ve gotten to know well in the first two books. It was perhaps a bit contrived but it’s a cozy mystery so all is forgiven. My main gripe is how quickly the story wrapped up. The pacing of the story was fine until the end. I felt like more time could have been devoted to the culminating events in the castle. I liked the set up for future stories and, like the fool that I am, will eagerly await the next story in hopes that Ms. Connelly will take mercy on my middle-aged heart and give us a direct declaration of interest between the two main characters. Otherwise, I’m going to have to take up writing fan fiction! Of note, the performance was solid and I am looking forward to hearing more from both author and narrator.

Good story, slightly annoying narrator

Overall, I like this author, and I like the storyline for all three of the books in the series. My only gripe is the way the narrator whispers most of the book and her inflections got on my nerves too. She’s not the worst narrator I’ve ever heard but having to constantly turn up the volume because she’s whispering all the lines was really annoying.

I really like these, but repetition is killing me!

I like these mysteries, I like cozy European murder mysteries. I like the narration, sometimes a little too condescending, but my real reason for this review, and I hope the author reads these reviews, is the repetition of bad behavior of the main character, Mercy. I have listened to the previous two books and find that there is way too much repetition of coined phrases in all three books and creating a narrative where the author excuses the main character, Mercy, from her bad habits of working out of her reach, as far as detecting goes. She has insight, but I think the author needs to find another way of her involvement beside working against the local detectives, and allowing her to get away with it.

Repetitious, . Absurd and very, “slow witted”protagonist

Repetition. Trust your readers. Too much filler. Liked the dog and the setting and some of the characters.
