Have mercy!

I stumbled upon this author and series recently and was delighted to see a new installment was scheduled for April 2025 release. I enjoy the setting and the characters who inhabit Sunshine Cove. If I’m being completely honest, I particularly like the tension and building relationship between Mercy (FMC) and Kieran (MMC) and the way their respective professions continue to intertwine. I like that the setting for this story moved us out of Sunshine Cove but still included the characters we’ve gotten to know well in the first two books. It was perhaps a bit contrived but it’s a cozy mystery so all is forgiven. My main gripe is how quickly the story wrapped up. The pacing of the story was fine until the end. I felt like more time could have been devoted to the culminating events in the castle. I liked the set up for future stories and, like the fool that I am, will eagerly await the next story in hopes that Ms. Connelly will take mercy on my middle-aged heart and give us a direct declaration of interest between the two main characters. Otherwise, I’m going to have to take up writing fan fiction! Of note, the performance was solid and I am looking forward to hearing more from both author and narrator.

Good story, slightly annoying narrator

Overall, I like this author, and I like the storyline for all three of the books in the series. My only gripe is the way the narrator whispers most of the book and her inflections got on my nerves too. She’s not the worst narrator I’ve ever heard but having to constantly turn up the volume because she’s whispering all the lines was really annoying.

Repetitious, . Absurd and very, “slow witted”protagonist

Repetition. Trust your readers. Too much filler. Liked the dog and the setting and some of the characters.
