Resumen del Editor

New Yorker Tara Meehan's first trip to Galway may be her last....

Tara never imagined her introduction to Ireland like this - carrying her mam's ashes to honor her final request: "Tell Johnny I'm sorry.... Take me home." She's never met her mam's estranged brother, Johnny Meehan, who owns an architectural salvage business in Galway. Although Tara is immediately charmed by the medieval city, the locals seem wary of strangers, and a gypsy warns her that death is all around.

When Tara arrives at her uncle's stone cottage, the prophesy seems true. A dead man lies sprawled over the threshold in a pool of blood. The victim turns out to be Johnny's wealthiest client, and her missing uncle is the Garda's number one suspect. In trying to find Johnny and solve the crime, Tara uncovers her mam and uncle's troubled past. But with a desperate killer about, she had better mind herself, or they'll be tossing her ashes in Galway Bay....

Not My Favorite

I love and adore the Village Mysteries by this author, but this new series is not my favorite. The writing was okay, but I just didn’t like the lead character. (No wonder the citizens of Galway disliked her.) The narration was lovely, but I don’t think I’ll continue with this series.

Entertaining Book

I really enjoy this author. I have listened to several of her books, and I was always entertained by her stories. The narrator of this book was also very good.

Yankee misfit

The story is a drawn out murder mystery with a New York yuppy wishing to be Irish. She acccuses, interrogates and lies to most everyone she meets as a method of ingratiation. Is that the Irish way?
(Not nearly as enjoyable as her Village Mystery series. The protagonist there is almost as surly but witty and possibly likeable.)

New Yorker Lands in Ireland

I am a fan of this author, but found this first in a new series to not quite measure up to her Irish Village Mysteries Series. I stuck with it until the end, (which was satisfying), but for some reason, much of the story didn't ring true to me. Too many characters, too many loose ends, and nobody liked or welcomed Tara Meehan to the village that her mother was from, yet it was a mystery as to why. And for me, that was off putting. I doubt that I will continue in this series.

Best yet!

This is my favorite book so far written by Carlene O'Connor. The fact that it's the first in a new series made it even more enjoyable. Interesting characters and who done it clues. Looking forward to your next book!

Dense heroine

I did enjoy parts of this story, but it became rather repetitive. It seemed to be a lot of the mental monologue of the heroine rather than seeing the story play out. Additionally, the heroine is pretty mentally dense and selfish in her actions. She admits that she doesn't know what she is doing, but doesn't mind ignoring the police's advice. I felt that she potentially put others in danger but didn't much care. There were a lot of moments when things just plodded along this way.
