One evening, Chloe Cook is at her parents' home, celebrating their fortieth wedding anniversary. She, they, and her boyfriend all hope that the recent spate of murders in their little Cape Code town is finally at an end.

The next morning, in her capacity as a makeup salesperson, she has an appointment with her friend, Emily Hightower, to show her the latest additions to the makeup line she represents. When she arrives, she's very surprised to find Emily's door slightly ajar, and Emily not responding the her knock, the bell, or even to Chloe pulling out her phone and calling. So she steps through that open door--and finds Emily lying dead on her living room floor, apparently stabbed to death.

This is not the peaceful new trend she was hoping for.

Police Detective Thicke and the medical examiner are soon on the scene. Thicke, at least, even if not the higher powers of the universe, decides that a new trend is needed, and he decides to work with, rather than against, Chloe and her amateur investigating. And working together, they find they're a pretty good team, and moreover that it's good to have another person to rely on and bounce ideas off of.

This isn't a story with a lot of depth, but it's fun and enjoyable. Recommended for light entertainment.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, and I am reviewing it voluntarily.

Death, Divorce, and Dessert, my twelfth read/listen from author K.M. Morgan & first with co-writer Kayla Michelle. A cute, well-written, clean, cozy mystery, obviously I like Morgan's well-written & enjoyable work. I look forward to reading more from her. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Narrator Stephanie Quinn’s talented narration added greatly to the book's enjoyment. Sweet character investigating a mysterious death alongside the local detective. Interesting characters. Pretty good narration. I didn’t like the male voices, sorry.

Quick, Clean, Cozy.

Death, Divorce, and Dessert was another great read by Kayla Michelle and K.M. Morgan. Chloe Cook is a makeup sales woman who doesn't expect her normal day at work turn out deadly. She showsup at a client's house for their appointment when she finds out her dear friend is murdered. She does what she can to find the killer. I can't wait to read more by the authors.

This story was quick and entertaining, I listened to it while working on a project. I would recommend this audiobook for easy listening.

However, because it was so short, the authors were limited in the amount of time they had to create a well developed and involved plot line. This made it simple to solve the mystery ahead of the main characters with little forethought.

The narrator did a fair job, but was a little weak at creating a differentiation between the male voices.

Short, but sweet

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary. This is a smart, quick, and excellent book with characters that seem real, great interactions, and a good murder mystery. Every time I listen to any of these books I start craving pie! This is a good addition to the series.
The narration was flawless!

Kayla Michelle/K.M. Morgan is quite prolific at writing entertaining cozies. Clever, yet not complicated, drama with interesting misdirection and a satisfying wrap up. Her characters are realistic and varied and entertaining to follow. In this short audiobook (1:10) “Death, Divorce, and Dessert,” Chloe Cook is a young woman from a loving family with a grandmother who is a bit non-filtered with her opinions, and a boyfriend who doesn’t seem offended by the “when are you getting married?” remarks. Chloe is employed as a make-up saleswoman for Crissy’s Cap Cod Cosmetics and visits clients to sell her products, but instead of promoting the benefits of a new moisturizer, she finds her client, Emily Hightower, dead. Chloe is not a novice with investigating murder, and Detective Thicke is beginning to recognize her skill, and over pie, they seek “inspiration.” Fun. Clever story. Satisfying conclusion. Stephanie Quinn has a very pleasant voice for this third-person narrative with an entertaining effort performing age and gender through her tone. Entertaining narration. Well worth spending the time.
